Former Intern, less than 1 year

    Project Engineer Intern

    Pros

I came in as a first year intern for the summer of 2014 and was not sure what to expect. I had very little experience and was a bit nervous working for such a top notch company. But, I had such a great and rewarding experience. The whole Power company from top down truly makes every employee weather an intern or a senior employee feel welcome and valued. The training opportunities are endless in this company. I would recommend and internship with Power to any student in the Construction industry looking for a rewarding and hands on experience. They really make you feel part of the team at Power and that is what I loved about my experience.

    Cons

Commuting in and out of the city can be somewhat of a hassle and traffic can be bad. But, if you learn to utilize public transportation (Metra, CTA, etc.) you will find yourself to be much happier.

Decent company, great benefits, watch out for HR

    Pros

Good training opportunities, great benefits, cool projects.

    Cons

I would advise you to NOT use HR as a resource. As with all HR departments-they exist to protect the company (not you) and any information you give…just don’t. Also, as much work as they’ve done on being diverse and inclusive-it’s still very much a white man’s world/boys club.

    Pros

Large High Profile Projects. Very smart people. Good training opportunities. Great sense of values - doing the right thing is more important than profit.

    Cons

Has become a bit political, since it's grown. Some people are on a fast track because of who they are aligned with in the company, others can be left behind.
