I have been working at Powercor Australia full-time

    Pros

Industry leader in distribution business. Great employees and teams to work with. At times good work life balance. Great company with focus on future improvements.

    Cons

Ever changing management structure, on an average once a year.
Massive reduction in Capital expenditure, almost 50% YoY over the next 4 years since 2017.
    Project pipeline is dry.
Last employee survey was close to depressing with management bruising it up as better than industry average.
Outsourcing in store for internal departments.
Opportunity to grow is quite limited

    Advice to Management

Be transparent and give opportunities to employee over outsiders. You will be surprised by the great talent being not challenged and under utilized.

    Pros

One of the better utilities in Australia, some good, smart people and reasonable pay. If you're in the right role, you'll have a good time.

    Cons

Lots of middle management zombies, ever tightening budgets and 6 monthly restructures seem to be the norm. Lots of talk about flexible work arrangements, but never approve them

    Advice to Management

Hire more leaders, and get rid of the administrators

I have been working at Powercor Australia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of change and increased commercial focus than previously the case. Prove yourself dynamic and accepting of change and you can go far.

    Cons

Pace of change is very high and occasionally rushed. Some decisions seem to be made without full picture as a result. Current environment has some holding their cards close to their chest making communication difficult in several areas. This will change for the better in time

    Advice to Management

Broader and more all inclusive discussion of change initiatives will allow better understanding and trouble shooting of initiatives.
