    Pros

Senior management great with client, great compensation, care about employees, good training and development, travel is 4-5 days per week, personal interest in our training and development.

    Cons

Weekly travel is a challenge but company is good about balanced with work and personal life. Some weekend work due to client operational structure.

    Advice to Management

Need to expand faster to provide more upward mobility. Pay is excellent but need opportunities for more management responsibility and project management experience.

I worked at Powers Company (More than a year)

    Pros

They are great salesmen. They have a great vision of what the 20th century (Yes, 20th century, not 21st century) manufacturing plant should look like. They are very focused on performing analytical analysis based on gap analysis. They are very focused on what they know hence any talk of Lean Manufacturing techniques is welcome.

    Cons

It is often difficult for Powers to make payroll. When they have to cut costs they do the same thing they recommend to customers. They either inconvenience employees or cut heads.Work week is Sunday afternoon through Friday evening.

    Advice to Management

Practice what preach. It is critical that you improve your project management skills if your company is going to survive.

I worked at Powers Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The client relationships made have been invaluable.
The younger staff are very ambitious and always looking for opportunity.

    Cons

    Old school mentality and tools.
Lacks structured management and communication between principals.

    Advice to Management

If you don't want to follow in DBA's footsteps and the toxic culture then don't fill the roster with Ex-DBA guys.

I worked at Powers Company full-time

    Pros

Some of the best people to work with in the industry. Pay was above average. Family was considered as priority for those who travelled, 5 on 2 off was the typical schedule.

    Cons

Communication was poor and at times nearly deceptive. Too many old "consultant habits" emerged within the work place despite goals to be totally different in the approach for consulting.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to those one the front line; stop taking employees for granted when you don't understand them; Get rid of so many secrets

I have been working at Powers Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

All of the Managing Partners are available and willing to talk/listen
    Truly puts the client first
Building a great foundation with their targeted recruiting
Fosters a team atmosphere vs. a cutthroat atmosphere (i.e. DBA, Proudfoot, Celerant, etc.)
They care about you as an individual, you're not viewed as a billable body

    Cons

It is Management Consulting so the travel 5 day a week/50 out of 52 weeks a year can be a challenge for some
Shedding the comparisons to other Management Consulting companies

    Advice to Management

Keep going down this path and it will be a very successful and well respected organization

    Pros

    Decent Pay for the industry.
Exposure to some solid "old school" consulting techniques and approaches.
Would recommend for recent graduates with no family who want to learn via trial by fire.

    Cons

    Brutal Travel
    Lack of Communication from Management
Some of the Management team can be outright abusive to both team members and the Client.
    No work/life balance whatsoever.
