  2. "Praxair Services, Inc."

Current Employee - Process and Pipeline Technician in Gonzales, LA

    Pros

Lots of overtime allows for high annual earnings. Per diem; hotel, rental, flight, etc. rewards points are yours, not the company's. 100% match on 5% with competitively priced benefits. Praxair offers assistance with everything. Adoption assistance, mortgages, 20% off AT&T bill and similar for Verizon, mortgage assistance, paint discounts, ability to utilize company travel agency discounts, school reimbursement, legal assistance, the list continues on with benefits just as applicable to daily life.

    Cons

Your head will be resting on a hotel pillow for over 200 days a year. This allows for high monetary benefit, but can put a strain on any relationship unfamiliar with these difficulties. Very difficult to make plans. Praxair Services, Inc. is a subsidiary of Praxair. We are a service company. If a customer calls in the middle of the night needing relief, regardless of vacation, PTO, or Quality Day, you could be subject to working. They do an excellent job in mediating this factor, but it does still exist.

I have been working at Praxair (More than a year)

    Pros

Great job security and stability. Good potential for advancement. Benefits are competitive 401k with company match. 2 weeks off your first full year.

    Cons

Company seems to operate so lean that sometimes leads to shooting themselves in the foot. My local branch has one person in store- the branch manager who is way over loaded. And 2 truck drivers.... we do between 4-5 million dollars a year. Workload is unrealistic.

    Advice to Management

Hire an appropriate amount of staff at Branches.
