    Pros

Very experienced and professional sales force.,

Large organization that moves slowly at times. Compensation isn't the same from one sales rep to the next.

    Advice to Management

Commission should be offered to sales reps willing to produce under that scenario.

I worked at Praxair full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is highly competitive for a job that requires little to no formal training. Praxair, as a company, cares about its employees and their wellbeing.

    Cons

As with most of the oil and gas industry, it's a "good ol' boys" club for sure. Being hired/promoted, isn't about what you know or your level of expertise in the industry, but who you know in the area you're looking at.

    Advice to Management

Look around at what you have and ask yourself, who is it that is making our company so great. If it's not you, then make changes. I've seen guys with Praxair for 20 years, but can't get to the next level because of the politics involved. There also should be some input of those who are being managed before someone is put in charge. In the facility I worked in, our new foreman had never even been in a chemical plant, only studied them in college, but because of his degree, was put in a leadership role, even though there were far more qualified individuals willing to take the position.

    Cons

Less manpower some time affects work life balance.

I have been working at Praxair full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company for the most part cares about their people. A very good team atmosphere and retention is higher than normal so you work with a lot of the same people.
Great benefits and negotiable salaries. Lots of lateral movement.

    Cons

Staffing tends to be on the lower side so work loads tend to be higher. Training is at a minimum. You are expected to jump into the pool and swim fast. Those who don't tend to leave. Those who stay learn to rely on their coworkers. Hence the great team working environment.

    Advice to Management

Enact a more professional training environment. Be willing to jump in or hire when you staff requests help.

I worked at Praxair full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to get a good understanding of a well run company. Praxair is very safety aware, so you will get a great education on safety.

    Cons

Management changes frequently and doesn't seem to give the operators much say in how things operate. Seems to be a good ole boy network

    Advice to Management

Involve the operators in more decision making of how things are done on the shop floor. Some of us would love to help improve our conditions.
