-Upper management is open to giving anyone new responsibility that wants to prove themselves.
-Unlimited progression if you show up, work hard and take initiative in yourself and within the company. This has been my personal experience starting as an entry level employee and advancing through the ranks.
-Many co-workers have significant longevity in the company and within the industry, all of which are more than open to share their knowledge with you.
    -Flexible scheduling and chill atmosphere.

    Cons

-Free coffee may create caffeine addiction

    Advice to Management

-Continue to grow the company within by mentoring new employees towards career success and grow younger employees behind the older generation for future fulfillment.

    Pros

Management cares about all people. Employees are stretched to improve. There is considerable sales support. Excellent benefits and compensation.

    Cons

Considerable multi-tasking can be challenging. The money is good, but people must commit to long hours.

    Advice to Management

Continue to motivate people to extend themselves to improve to highest possible levels.

    Pros

Lots of career opportunities with focus on technology and innovation.

    Cons

Praxair is a great place to work and I can't think of any negatives

    Advice to Management

Streamline internal systems and better connect global regions. Invest more in knowledge management.

I have been working at Praxair full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Praxair provides a year-long program for recent graduates to learn about the company and develop their leadership skills.

    Cons

Must be a self-started to succeed. Your role is to learn and sometimes that requires thinking outside of the box.

    Advice to Management

Place COLP Associate where they can truly thrive in the program. This would be in a location with plenty of exposure to all aspects of the business as well as expose to senior leadership.

I have been working at Praxair full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Praxair is a well managed global company. The leadership team has a clear vision of where the company is heading into. They are bottom line driven and alway focusing on how to run the company more efficiently. I am very proud to tell people that I work for Praxair.

    Cons

Not that I can think of. If there is anything they can improve, that would be in IT area. We understand that the company is trying to cut the cost. But to keep IT up to date will increase productivity and employee job satisfaction.

I have been working at Praxair full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good work life balance, generally not very cut-throat culture (a reflection of the laid-back nature of Western New York). If you come from a more competitive work environment, you will find things a bit more relaxed here.
    - If you're ambitious, there's a lot of room to grow, especially if you can identify the right niche in which to bring modern thinking into the organization. It's a conservative organization in an entrenched industry that has high barriers to entry. It is also a fairly risk-averse organization. Fortunately the company is somewhat open to incrementalist ideas. The R&D organization is fairly healthy.
    - Compensation is nothing to write home about but adequate considering the cost-of-living. Enough to support a normal suburban lifestyle.
    - Career development support is generally good for professionals. Many training courses available on site.
    - Benefits are ok, especially if you are in corporate and are in a professional role.

    Cons

    - (not related to the company, but more a general comment on the location) Relatively low economic vibrancy in the city, apart from a growing healthcare and education presence. Private industry activity is lacking. There is a overall feeling of mediocrity to the city, despite its supposed resurgence (that said, the resurgence only started a few years ago, so this may change over time). Currently not that attractive to millennials, with weather being a strong deterrent, except those who are originally from the area or those from similar rust belt cities.

    Advice to Management

    - as one of the few private employers in the city, perhaps more investment in reinvigorating the downtown area to make it a better place for young professionals. This could include sponsoring public events, technology conferences, etc. Buffalo generally isn't on the list of stops for exciting high tech events or road shows, but corporate sponsorship may help move the needle on that. There is an urban shift all over America and millennials (apart from those originally from Buffalo, who grew up with the idea of the city being dangerous) overwhelmingly find city-living more attractive, but unfortunately that is not true of Buffalo in its current state.
