I have been working at Precision Drilling (More than a year)

    Pros

Executives are really nice. Fellow employees are nice and make the workday pleasant. Great starter job. Descent company sponsored events.

    Cons

The company lacks growth opportunities from within. Mid-level management consist of mindless work horses. Great place to work if you just need a job.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue.

I worked at Precision Drilling full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and good starting salary. Opportunities to learn on the job.

    Cons

Not much opportunity after the first year. The culture is difficult - very Canadian oriented and carpetbagger mentality. The Canadians have mobility, the locals don't. Bad communication top down, and clickish. Top management make erratic decisions, or at least, not explainable. No buy-in from the staff is needed.

    Advice to Management

More communication and buy-in to develop more loyal employees and to retain good employees.

I have been working at Precision Drilling full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Started off great, but numerous changes in upper management as lead to a overall free fall in employee moral, and attitude.

    Cons

No additional training, upper management is awful. No clear leadership.

    Advice to Management

    Think outside the box.

I have been working at Precision Drilling full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Precision has done its best during the downturn to retain it's employees. Has an excellent set of Core Values - if only they conducted their business with them as they once did.

    Cons

I don't think the company even believes in their Core Values anymore. They have taken benefits and bonuses away from the people who need it the most rather than looking at the compensation of upper management. Even massage benefits were taken away recently which is a standard part of most other company's packages. There is absolutely no succession planning or career progression even for long term employees. Precision used to be a family oriented place to work. Now it seems like everyone is out for themselves and their own agenda. Morale is extremely low and it almost seems like they have used the downturn to kick us knowing that there aren't jobs to go to in the industry. There is nothing to attract and retain employees anymore.

I worked at Precision Drilling full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits
    Loyal long term employees
    Learned alot

    Cons

    Very sexist
Too many friends & family = favoritism
    Too many managers

    Advice to Management

Internal audits of middle & lower management & their cliques. Clean up the corruption, abuse of position and PD name. Being employeed should be earned not cause you are liked.

    Pros

The pay and benefits package are decent. If you like donuts you might get a shot at them once in awhile.

    Cons

Lack of leadership & accountability by management. Accomplishments are not recognized. Sharing of information so one can further develop their career is minimal - some people can be more concerned about protecting seniority.

    Advice to Management

Director level management should be more involved with engaging employees under them or HR in terms of overall job satisfaction /performance reviews.

    Advice to Management

Train your leadership to show respect for all employees and you may not have as much employee turnover.
