I worked at Presbyterian Healthcare Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay was decent for field paramedic and it's a fast-paced city EMS service so you'll get tons of experience. Great medical director and education staff who really prepare you before letting you out in the field on your own. They currently have a great group of commanders in the field who oversee without micromanaging. Plenty of opportunities for overtime as a paramedic, not so much for EMT's/Advanced EMT's.

    Cons

Little to no downtime, especially if you work night shift. Coming home from every single shift absolutely exhausted got old really quick.

I have been working at Presbyterian Healthcare Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Work from home (some positions) -Relative flexibility in scheduling the work you need to do -Management is very, very close to all their employees which is not something you will see anywhere else. They will take time to talk to you and are very approachable. It's a very comfortable atmosphere -Very accommodating with travel - they pay for hotels, rental cars (including upgrades to four wheel drive vehicles in winter/bad...

    Cons

-Sometimes receive direction from several managers other than your own whom you may not even know. Sometimes you will receive conflicting direction which can be frustrating to sort out -Benefits are pretty bad considering it's a medical insurance company. You pay for all your medical bills until you hit the deductible which under my plan is $7k. Then they will start to kick in 80%. That plan for a family is around $130/pay...

I worked at Presbyterian Healthcare Services full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Steady pay check. Mostly great co-workers.

      Cons

Grossly understaffed, ALWAYS! Lack of ability to retain employees! Favoritism allows one to sit and do nothing while others work their fingers to the bone. Insurance is expensive. Bullied into hazardous new roles without being compensated for them!

      Advice to Management

When you bully your employees into further certification...pay them accordingly! Get rid of the lazy and the bullies. It would make all the difference!
