Pros
- Generous food and drink allowance - Contracted hours/not zero-hour contract - High standards and clean shops - Interesting customers - Paid for socials/meals - Nice co-workers and enjoyable teamworking - Progressive company image and good quality, tasty food - Even though the shop culture is sometimes bad, I would probably still recommend it over other hospitality chains I've worked for
Cons
- Terrible GM and area management culture - bullying, threatening, yelling, cursing at employees who are literally just trying their best - Expected to come into work unless seriously physically sick (i.e. vomiting) - Managers don't understand mental health which has been apparent from conversations with my co-workers; demotivating to see team members you care about upset about this and not listened to - Staffing issues/high employee turnover in my shop meant that workload was ridiculous leading to current employees frequently cutting corners - After having worked in 2 different shops there were major differences and it became apparent how much higher the workload was in the other store , although I witnessed GMs bullying and threatening staff in both stores

Pros
Smart, Measurable, and realistic targets. Very motivational workplace. Lots of communication lines open to upper management.
Cons
Managers need to put in a lot more than 40 hours a week to really do an efficient job. Recruitment is very difficult and we rely on a very small group of people to vet and deliver strong Team Members to our shops. However, many general managers do not have the time to recruit on their own efficiently so we must rely on the recruitment team.

Pros
I enjoyed particularly how my team were helpful and always cheered when there were hard times Good pay but not the best one to break my back Nice free events with cheap wines and food, I've got sick from Pret parties Free food as staff food, healthy yes, but after a while you can't live with just sandwiches, ready food is never that healthy, healthier a portion of chicken soup made from me I bet!
Cons
Well, I'm sick with fit notes from doctors and Pret since this year, I guess, doesn't pay anymore for sicknesses, now I need to fill up the statutory sick form to send to a job center, it would be fair enough but my manager doesn't know how to fill the spot where it is asked why Pret doesn't pay me... That's quite weird then I have to struggle to see my money and therefor to pay the rent...what an unprofessional company I can tell... Not paid overtime Abuse of power most part of the times (I felt on my skin few times) Incorrect wadges, my management doesn't know what is a calculator or how to read a rota correctly

Pros
Nothing. Favouritsm left many tms out.
Cons
The manager and team member came from the same family and they pinned tms against each other. It wasn't professional and no direction. This isn't a good company to work for, pay is not good and you work hard with little to no pay. I wouldn't recommend. The hardest part I found was the toxic culture.

Pros
A few very supportive members within the team that care about each other and help where possible
Cons
I’m not sure where to even begin with this review. I worked in the Food & Coffee team in the head office and I can honestly say the management, culture and overall company is the most horrific I have experienced to date. Simply the lack of process and ownership within the company sets the foundation of a complete shambles. Within higher management there is constant conflict, childish behaviour and bullying which is directly pushed down to individual contributors within the team. Management of the team lacks basic people training, leadership skills and is simply unable to make decisions on anything. This lack of competency in combination with the inability to defend the team from impossible higher management requests and has resulted in the worst team culture I have ever seen. Management frequently takes out frustrations on the team, singling out individuals to bully, neither supporting the wider team or individual reports. Favourites within the team are made very clear and given special treatment over other individual contributors. Speaking out and saying anything remotely against the grain is ‘encouraged’ and yet anyone that does is treated differently by management. Making things happen ‘by any means possible’ and working way past contracted full time hours is regularly celebrated and encouraged. The food and coffee team is comprised of extremely competent and hard working individuals who consistently give 200%, with no reward or acknowledgment of their achievements, creating a culture of extreme burn out and negativity. Without the highly skilled expertise of the team the whole process would simply fall apart. Aside from the horrific culture, there is also no progression within this team which is partly to play in why the turnover is so frequent. Only 7/25 uk team have worked there for 1+ years. Overall, I would not recommend this team or company to anyone.
