I worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets (NY) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Department Managers who care, nice people to work with. Never a lack of anything to do.

    Cons

Lack of accountability when previous shift doesn't finish work - in all departments. Had to work in two different departments to get more than 15 hours a week.Even with being in two departments I only ever had 25 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

Give full time hours to associates who work hard and finish their work not just to the people who have been there for years and are to burnt out to put in the effort. Also teach your Store Managers how to coach people, and how to hold people accountable at all levels for things not done or not done properly.

I have been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets (NY) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

job is pretty secure. Comes with health insurance. Close to home. Been there more than 20 years. Convenient scheduling.

    Cons

full timers can be involuntarily moved to different departments or different stores as needed to reduce payroll expenses. There are no incentive programs. They don't really seem to appreciate people who have been there a long time. Over the last few years, I've seen many really good full time associates and managers just quit.

    Advice to Management

Show some appreciation to your workers. Maybe implement some incentive programs.

I worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets (NY) part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working for a large chain requires less from you personally, more people to help out, and you are working to make a positive association with that name.

    Cons

Because you work for a large chain there is no freedom to be creative within that structure. You have a specific guideline on how many, and what they need to look like. Consistancy.
