    Exposed to all parts of the development life cycle and take on multiple roles Ability to go outside your role and work with other departments Managers care about your career growth Training resources are readily available Good work life balance for the most part

    Training needs to be frequent for live sessions Work can be overwhelming sometimes because of multiple roles you might be taking on

    Pros

    Upper management is very helpful. Co-workers are very nice and welcoming to new hires. Many opportunities for growth within company.

    Cons

    Small staff makes the job ten times harder. Very fast paced at times. Work-life balance is non- existent. No time for family life.

    Pros

    There was a lot to learn and a number of bright people that worked there that you could learn from. Pay was decent, work was interesting.

    Cons

    Very cliquish, you had to belong to the JMU crew to get any meaningful projects or get promoted. They teams are not a colaborative as the claim and you were either part of the "it" group or not. Expect long hours, work life balance is not a priority here.

    I worked at Primatics Financial

    Pros

    Very good compensation (potentially great) and work life balance (potentially greater) as long as you are working on an unimportant client. Excellent telecommuting opportunity especially if you have a needed skill - in fact, the Keystone Cop management has no idea who's doing what to whom most of the time so as long as you're not on one of the big 2-3 projects you can dial it back by telecommuting and work 20 hours a week or so.

    Cons

    Compensation and work/life balance suck if you're working on one of the big leading (or bleeding, make that bleeding profusely) projects. In this case your compensation is roughly half or your company peers and they all hate you because you get to take all of their resources leaving them to explain to their clients why their project is now falling hopelessly behind schedule. Top level leadership is nonexistent and often at odds with each other as the private equity investors, Carlyle Group (who should have openings on their due diligence team) put in a group of outsiders trying to make the company something its not on technology that can do what it wants it to do. What Primatics does is slick, BUT hard to see it being platform leverageable. You'll need to brush up on hearing skills as most local people are being replaced with offshore people and many of them have a tenuous grasp of the US language and customs. There have been a lot of departures and it wouldn't be shocking to see another riff in 2015 or early 2016, if only to replace them with cheaper foreign/offshore labour.

    Pros

    Flexible work schedule, great staff below Director. Most people just waiting for other shoe to drop ( aka the earn-out) before exiting. Lots of openings as many of the recent hires ( in last 2 yrs) quitting. If you are on a project run by a founder - rules/SOP will not apply to you but you will work 60 hrs/week.

    Cons

    Read all the postings on Glass-door - there is a theme. For a company of its size the firm is surprisingly very political and senior management is incompetent. The majority of VP and Directors have only worked at Freddie/Fannie which only adds to the bad habits and haphazard way in which they apply processes. Work/life balance is very poor.

    I have been working at Primatics Financial full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Primatics is a young technology company and with that come ups and downs. I have been present for many of the highs and lows during my tenure. Employees who excel at Primatics are those who are bought into the vision and understand that hard work and dedication pay off. Flexibility / adaptability are a must, as change is ever-present. This company has some of the best and brightest people I have ever encountered. The leadership team does a great job of balancing what must be done to continue a growth pattern while also considering the human impact; tough decisions have been made on many occasions, but never without consideration of the effect on employees. In my experience, the company still has a "family" feel, despite its size - most employees form lasting friendships here. Pay is above-market for the majority (never below-market) and the benefits package is competitive in most respects, especially in the current climate of rising healthcare costs. Employees have the flexibility to move throughout different areas of the company to expand their skills.

    Cons

    Again, this is a growing company constantly going through change. Work-life balance is a challenge for some at times. Mistakes are made, but there is always a lesson learned. The management team has more work to do to ensure people in all departments are actually being managed - there are too many managers with subject matter skills who lack "people" skills, but are still assigned to oversee employees. This can negatively impact an employee from day one, skewing their experience in the organization. This is definitely a culture where fit is important - if you don't like change or expect opportunity to be handed to you, this is not the place for you. As with any workplace, you will have tough times when work just isn't very fun, but in my experience, sticking through the hard times has always proved to be a great decision.

    Pros

    Compensation is good; Work/life balance is good for some; terrible for others. Colleagues are bright and hard-working.

    Cons

    The company has taken a turn for the worse in 2013 and the outlook for the future is bleak at best; there have been multiple layoffs this year and there seems to be a mass exodus with multiple people leaving each week; the culture has turned toxic with everyone pointing fingers at one another and playing the blame game for why the company is not doing well. It's an awful environment to work, and I would not recommend taking a job here.

    Pros

    Depending on who you work with there may be work life balance.

    Cons

    The company operates in a very niche space that thrived on banks acquiring distressed assets. This worked when the economy was in downturn but they have not been able to maintain clients and get new one's as the economy improves. So there are few opportunities for learning something marketable and to enhance one's personal resume. Whatever opportunities do exist are promptly shared, not on merit but favoritism as other reviews suggest. That also means reviews are a formality to justify ratings rather than to be used for development. For a 200 small company it is extremely bureaucratic and senior management does not communicate properly with each other resulting in multiple meetings at low level whose sole purpose is to get everyone on the same page over and over again. The VP of the biggest resource group believes that only top performers should be career coached. She used to famously say that in a group setting during reviews...that we should spend time coaching only the top performers who hold promise. As the product name suggests, technology is evolving all the time and that also works as a caveat for when technology does not work.

    Pros

    The pay is good and the raises have been good. That will probably all change now that there is a new CEO and since Carlyle acquired company.

    Cons

    Very bad work life balance. Very high turnover. Seems like someone resigns every week. There were multiple layoffs this year. People are very glad to have gotten out or are trying to get out unless you are in upper management. The company reorganizes every 2 months and there is consistently a lack of personal employee management or communication. The work is also very monotonous and dull. It's like doing your taxes every day, all day but your tax program stops working and you keep hitting the troubleshoot button but that screen won't load and it's April 15th and the government just rolled out 100 new pages of tax forms that are all out of order. So you ask your 3 friends for help and they each give you a different answer. A lot of confusion and bad management throughout company.
