    Pros

Excellent people, good culture, committed to giving back, flexible work schedule, telecommuting, clear vision, well positioned to grow nationally.

    Cons

Company is in a transformative phase (pro!), some are slower to adapt.

I worked at Primera Engineers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The original founders created a truly incredible corporate culture which valued employee contributions, provided opportunities for social responsibility, and fostered great relationships among staff and with clients. Sadly, recent disruptive change within the company has shattered this somewhat, but it could be regained. The staff genuinely cares about each other.

    Cons

The recent ownership change and resulting shake-up had an incredibly damaging effect on employee morale. Many employees have left within the last year.

Favoritism is rampant and hard work and talent are rarely rewarded. Pay is significantly lower than industry standards for much of the staff.

Change happens reeeeeaaally slowly, if at all; promised "upcoming" promotions often take 1-2 years to occur, if they ever happen. Be suspicious of promises of advancement, as they appear to largely be unrealistic. Similarly, there are a lot of broken promises of advancement that spontaneously and arbitrarily are given to someone else, rewarding people on favoritism or dutiful process-following instead of talent or dedication.

Worse, though, is that staff are so often pigeonholed in repetitive tasks (frequently far below their level of experience or education) that do not provide challenge or new skills. It's a shame, because many intelligent and talented people work here; it appears that many have been driven out by the utter lack of progressive responsibility and challenging, meaningful work.

    Advice to Management

Speak with honesty. Follow through on your promises. Recognize and reward talent where recognition is due, before your best employees bail.

I worked at Primera Engineers full-time

    Pros

    Fun and friendly co-workers.

This could be a pro or a con depending on who you are: The work is super easy.

    Cons

Instead of trying to retain talent in a positive way, management does things that seem like they're trying intimidate people from leaving.

Work is too easy (could also be pro)

    Pay and benefits are poor.

Management clearly does not believe in promoting from with in or developing their own talent.

Checklist, Checklist, Checklist, Checklist, Checklist, Checklist, Checklist, Checklist

Work and Quality procedures are FAR from optimized for the work being done. This leads to procedural log jams, missed schedules, and mediocre quality. But on the positive side, they are ISO 9000 compliant so who cares.

    Advice to Management

Take really long look in to the mirror of self criticism.

I have been working at Primera Engineers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management at Primera goes out of their way to make the office culture relaxed and fun. Flexible work schedules are a perk.

    Cons

Sometimes the relaxed atmosphere is a little too relaxed... As with any flexible and relaxed environment, there are those that take advantage of the trust.

    Advice to Management

Management should be focused more on results within the business and not get so lost focusing on ISO procedures.
