I worked at Primerica part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Primerica aims to help middle families become properly protected, debt-free and financially independent by providing afford term life insurance, debt elimination advice, investment products, etc. Their motto "is buy term and invest the difference". By doing this, families and individuals can get their money working for them, instead of the other way around. The financial opportunity is limitless, while the culture is amazing and unlike what you'll find anywhere else.

    Cons

    -Long hours spent prospecting daily
    -Hang ups
    -Reschedules
    -No-show appointments (dark houses)
    -Limited training
-Constant self-motivation to self-improve on top of everything else you have to do

Unfortunately, for a lot of reps, you'll put a lot more money into Primerica than you'll actually get out of it. It's also a pain when you're not making money, but you have to continuously attend your weekly meetings and trainings. It can be rather demoralizing, especially in a small office where your team is depending on you. Also, having to keep attending conventions (some of them out of state and out of pocket) and pay to get in, just so you can clap for the people who are actually winning is hard to reconcile with why you joined in the first place. It should be more about the client and not how many people you can harass or how much money you can make. All the hype speeches and high fives in the world won't help you if you don't have strong warm market referrals (dependable referrals).

    Advice to Management

Foster an environment where winning recruitment/sales strategies are discussed, rather than leaving new recruits to their own devices. Also, show them how to close sales (10-15 training closes is the Primerica standard), and not just tell them what to say to get one. Take them on appointments so they won't be fumbling through their own potential closes/product replacements and ending up with a potential chargeback. On-the-job training does not come off very professional to the person who's trusting you to take care of their insurance/finances. There needs to be more investment from trainers in the people they bring on board on how to navigate dealing with life insurance/debt elimination; a field that is entirely new to most people who come on board. Lead by example.

    Pros

There are no pros to "working" with companies like this, they push you to sell insurance products to your "personal network" which means pestering your friends and family until they acquiesce.

    Cons

This is not a job but rather a pushy multi-level marketing scheme. Their business model relies on bringing in as many "sales people" as possible so the people at the top of the chain make more money. Please stay far away from this company.

I worked at Primerica part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working on your own time, which can be useful to those who already have another job and this is their part time, or for people who have kids/a family. "Freelance". In other words, you don't necessarily answer to anyone.

    Cons

They don't pay you for training. You must recruit your own workers. They pressure you on everything. A strict deadline to test, close deals, and find new people to hire on your team.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to confront people in a respectful way. Also, be careful on who you hire, don't be desperate, who you hire reflects who you are as a company.

I worked at Primerica (More than a year)

    Pros

Make as much as you put into it. Always meeting new people and building relationships. Genuinely helping people make positive changes in the lives. Support in your success, all the way to the top of your management chain. If you are a Christian, then my group would have been awesome for you.

    Cons

Be prepared to pay out of pocket for the first several months without much in the way of return. There is no client list. Have to practice on your friends and family. No money at all until you make a sale. I am not religious, so paying before each meeting and contributing all my success to the Lord was not for me.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you do. Be supportive and invest in the success of your underlings. Tone down the God in your business maybe just a little.

I worked at Primerica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I met 2 or 3 nice, ethical people.

    Cons

Even the long time employees told me to just show up at 8am, work until 5pm and collect my check. They said that pointing out problems only gets you fired. They were right.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the personals you hire for their expertise, or save money and hire temps.
