RecommendsPositive OutlookI have been working at Prince George's County full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
I really like my job. I love my supervisor. I was able to come in, learn and be mentored even though I didn’t have a lot of experience when I got the job. It’s a pretty relaxing environment. Everyone has their own projects in my department. I especially love being part of a union that fights for you and the potential to earn a pension after 10 year’s in county government. That just my experience. Every department is different and every supervisor is different
Cons
Of course it’s an office setting so there’s people who smile in your face and talk about you behind your back. Everyone is in everyone else business. It’s very hard for bad supervisors to be fired. Unless you change jobs or divisions it’s very hard to move up. Also, everything has to be approved by your supervisor, then your manager, then your director and so on. Expect to have to revise your work based on what the hire ups want. This doesn’t bother me that much but it may bother some. No bonuses. Don’t expect drastic raises. You really have to negotiate you pay when you come in because it doesn’t move up by a lot.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at Prince George's County full-time
Pros
Safe job even for these lazy people, a lot of corruption, they hire only their friends here. They are not afraid of getting fired since it's a government job. They don't have to provide good customer service because they feel they have a safe job but the little power given to them make them feel that they can use and abuse it against other citizens.
Cons
Lazy people all around. They cannot return phone calls.
