I have been working at Prince William County Schools full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large district, excellent health benefits, good salary (I was hired in 2000).

    Cons

The cost of living are high for the newcomers. Sometime the school you work in is not your fit, but there are plenty of opportunity to change school. The commute can be very short. Mine is 7 minutes :)

Culture can change with different location tremendously.

I worked at Prince William County Schools full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

High quality and high expectations of all students. Parents were very invested and worked with teachers to ensure their children exceed

    Cons

BelAir school principal was so biased. Showed obvious preference for teachers who were not white. Never followed through. Lack of communication. Staff meetings were via YouTube and too much time giving out awards to same employees each staff meeting

    Advice to Management

Ask employees why they choose to leave. HR never acknowledged my resignation

I worked at Prince William County Schools full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent amount of collaboration between staff and administrators. Most employees were friendly.

    Cons

School board is horrible, immature, and HIGHLY unprofessional. Site-based management of the principals can get REALLY abusive. Special education is an absolute joke. It's all about athsestics in this district. If you are a teacher who cares about kids and their well being stay away from this school district.

    Advice to Management

STOP FOCUSING ON THE ATHSESTICS OF THE SCHOOLS AND THE DISTRICT! FOCUS ON THE KIDS AND THEIR FUTURES NOT WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE!!!!
