    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Prince William County Schools part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large number of schools to work at. I rarely had a day where I was not called for a job somewhere in the county. Very reasonable pay.

    Cons

When I applied they handed me a paper asking what regions of the school system I would like to work, but there was nothing to tell me which cities those regions serviced and there wasn't time to look each up individually. It is also not possible to change which regions you are available for online or the times you are willing to be called. It was at times difficult to get jobs in my immediate area without forming a relationship with the schools outside of the system (had to go to some schools directly and sign up). For some schools it was impossible to understand the recorded audio stating what position needed to be filled, or even what school the position was at. Also the sub call system would fill my voicemail box with voicemails that contained no information.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice if substitutes had more control of their preferences and information through the online system. Also the prioritization of the call out system over the online selection system can be extremely frustrating, sometimes the call out system would begin calling another person within the time it took for me to load the page and click the accept button.
