I have been working at Princess Cruise Lines

    Pros

Great cruise discounts!!!! Good Benefits Great place to learn about the travel industry. Very cool team members. Great work hours.

    Cons

I would like to see more marketing gear towards Cruise Vacation Planners. It very difficult to compete with travel agency when you don't have the tools.

    Advice to Management

Have faith that your inside sales team can do the job and not keep yourself beholden to travel agencies that really don't have your best interest at heart.

    Pros

    Work from home is okay

    Cons

When Princess was absorbed into Holland America, thing went downhill. They expect a lot but don’t want to pay. As others have said...go anywhere else

I have been working at Princess Cruise Lines full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Vacation and Sick Pay, employee only fair rates. Many tools to learn about cruise industry. Some cool team members. Great work hours. Managers come up with small rewards such as free food as a thank you for working hard. Offers for overtime on some Saturdays. Coffee machines, tea, ice water and hot chocolate on every floor. Lunchroom fantastic given short allotment of time for lunch.

    Cons

"Bonus" is in lieu of actually paying sales commissions, and is therefore an optional monthly payment, taxed at a bonus rate, paid following month, and instead of being part of compensation. Managers play favorites, especially with new hires. Initial training period extended which leads to delay in "Bonus", up to 4 months. Travel discounts and employee free cruise almost non-existent. Must have time pre-approved &...

    Advice to Management

Pay is low for industry standards, monthly pay and less micromanaging for not making minimum sales, would keep more staff. Be more upfront about position, the requirement of one year to move positions, if pay structure was revamped to meet industry standards, this may retain employees from looking elsewhere.

I have been working at Princess Cruise Lines for more than a year

    Pros

vacation and sick time 401k free food all the time

    Cons

pay isnt near american standard glorified telemarketer

    Advice to Management

be more upfront about the position. pay your employees more considering what others pay. If you pay more you wont have to spend so much on crazy 1 month training, there will be less turnover most likely.

I have been working at Princess Cruise Lines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The overall company and brand is great. The office is nice and so is the lunchroom. There's coffee machines and tea and hot chocolate on every floor. The employees are very nice and friendly.

    Cons

The supervisors in CVP and Direct Sales micromanage every last detail and you feel like you are treated like you're in kindergarten. Pay is very low for the industry.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better and pay them more and you might have much less turnover.

I have been working at Princess Cruise Lines

    Pros

Benefits, free cruise once per year for employees less than five years. Parking is free, nice offices, but are trying to do much more telecommuting for customer facing positions.

    Cons

Great job for second income, but not if it's your only income, call center environment, expectations are very high, they want every CVP to produce at a rate of $1MM per year. "Bonus" is in lieu of actually paying sales commissions, and is therefore an optional payment, taxed at a bonus rate, instead of being part of compensation. Managers play favorites, especially with new hires. Health Insurance Benefits are paid...

    Advice to Management

Do not continue to cap "bonuses" at 50% of base pay, your employees cannot make a living wage on this kind of pay.
