    Cons

It's hard to be away from my family.

I have been working at Princess Cruise Lines full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great coworkers/ mostly friendly culture
Close to home if you live in Santa Clarita
Some cruise benefits (have been reduced recently)
    Good work/ life balance
Can be exciting working in the vacation/ travel industry

    Cons

    Low morale
Pay is below industry standards (most employees would tell you the company is cheap)
Low raises (i.e. they will not negotiate on internal promotions)
Poor IT support (IT was outsourced to Capgemini and has resulted in poorer support)
Poor executive management (they are not honest with employees and have made many bad decisions over the years)
Forced integration with Holland America Line (ongoing but has calmed some. Resulted in morale issues and high turnover)

    Advice to Management

This review would have been a 4 or 5 if not the direction the company has taken over the last several years (HAL merger, IT outsourcing, payroll tax withholding issue related to medical benefits, and cutting our onboard discounts after posting record Q1 profits while saying the company would work to improve shoreside employment after the poor employee survey results [the cut was a huge to slap to our faces]). Stop being so single mindedly focused on double digit returns. People pay for value. The quality of the product won't improve when all you care about is cost cutting.

The shipboard staff deserve a lot better treatment and appreciation as well.

I have been working at Princess Cruise Lines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Cruise Benefits, the employees are great, ability to telecommute

    Cons

Only care about numbers. I'm sad to give this company a low score. A few years ago it would have been 10 stars but another company is taking over and the once amazing company that Princess Cruises used to be is sadly no more.

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees. Numbers are not the only thing that matters. Good customers service used to be appreciated and should be. Morale is incredibly low with every department and people fear for their jobs. The supervisors no longer have any say so when it comes to anything. This is unfortunate because talk time and how many calls you take a day does not define a good employee.

I worked at Princess Cruise Lines full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great schedule, great benefits, really fun and challenging global projects to work on.

    Cons

Neither my title nor my compensation accurately reflected my responsibilities. There was often a huge imbalance of work and pay among people on the same team. They tend to lean on the strong employees and give them the most work instead of bringing up weaker team members.

    Advice to Management

Take those survey responses you get seriously. And reward your top employees with more than just extra work. Make those weak team members pull their weight or let them go.

I have been working at Princess Cruise Lines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free unlimited coffees and cappuccinos

    Cons

Supervisors offer little support or guidance but VERY quick to point out mistakes and makes one feel less of a person. Benefits suck. They take out a lot out of our paychecks. The pay is terrible. For the type of work we do, the pay is minimal. It should be at least $17 per hour to start. Makes us work so hard dealing with unpleasant travel agents, most of them think that they are above us and they can abuse us. On top of that, supervisors rarely step in to ease to situations or correct the situations. They are just there to look for employee conducts or mistakes. They are quick to give write-ups or warnings. One time, I put the call on hold because I really needed to go to the restroom. I was gone for less than 2 minutes and my supervisor was waiting for me by my desk and angrily asked me where I was. I told her that I badly needed to go to the restroom. She said, "you cannot go until the call is finish". I told her if should start wearing adult diapers to work. She did not respond, I guess that meant YES. It was so degrading. Since working there, I have to take medications for panic attacks. I'm supposed to take ONE a day but most of the time, I take 3 a day. It's not right. My anxiety is to the roof.

    Advice to Management

Train ALL supervisors to treat employees right and make us feel that we are valued. Give us more breaks to take some breaths even for 2 minutes every each hour. We should be given few second breaks before the next call.
