      Depends on the department

      Pros

Touted as the country's best university, there are certainly many individuals that are brilliant. Its an amazing environment in that respect. The campus is beautiful. If you get to connect with scholars, it is intellectually stimulating. Seeing young people begin their lives here is inspiring.

      Cons

Despite being a home for the brilliant, accomplished, and ambitious, it has the same problems any large academic bureaucracy has. Because it is "Princeton," egos abound -- the forthright person may not thrive here -- this depends on the department and how skilled the managers are. If you work in an older building, you may not have a fully comfortable place to work -- again, depends on department.

Fantastic atmosphere, and I feel appreciated every day

      Pros

Everyone I work with is smart, reasonable, and friendly. Nobody knows everything, so we all look to each other for help finding out how to do things or finding out who knows who would know how to do something. And the campus is beautiful, there's a lot of free food going around all the time, and swag, and everybody respects everybody. I haven't needed flexibility in hours, but it's available for those who do. Sometimes people bring their kids or dogs to work. We have regular staff appreciation parties and breakfasts, celebrate people's birthdays and baby showers. There is abundant opportunity for professional development through training and workshops, even outside of the core duties of the job. Nobody who is a temp is treated differently from the full-time staff, and temps are often hired as full-time staff after a while. In fact, I have occasionally forgotten that I don't actually work for Princeton (yet); I work for a staffing agency.

      Cons

It's easy to put on weight with all this delicious food going around, especially around the holidays. You gotta stay disciplined, or have a fast metabolism, or buy bigger pants. So budget for that maybe.

      Pros
