I worked at Principal Hotel Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked in a part of HR, and was not expected to do more than my contracted hours, when I did, it was appreciated. The office was friendly and any help required was offered freely.
Staff turnover is hellish, which is a well known issue in hospitality for non management staff in a venue of this size, but the on site Management dealt with it as well as they could, and were really open to pro active solutions and suggestions.

    Cons

Head office management had no idea at all, and the training that was expected to be run out had no relation to, and was totally inappropriate with the actual day to day operational challenges of the business, and was therefore ineffective and regarded as a bit of a joke by the management and staff on site.

    Advice to Management

Head office management should actually be obliged to work for several weeks in a venue, and should do so on a regular basis. That should take care of the disparity between their perception and reality. For example, there were no centralised risk assessments or any other of the aids that would have helped overstretched junior management already struggling with excessive hours to fulfill simple administrative tasks. On site senior management were, when I was there of , of a really good professional standard in my opinion.

I worked at Principal Hotel Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team in which I was working in. Everybody was very friendly, and in my department, very capable. Working hours were flexible. The workload was not that high, but I was never bored. I was constantly trying to improve my performance, which was recognized by my superiors. I was given a wide variety of training on the job, which helped me in future jobs.

    Cons

The product that we were selling was poor. It was old and was in need of refurbishment. When I left, some of the rooms had been refurbished and were enjoyed by guests. It's difficult to respond to complaints about the hotel, when you know the client has spent a lot of money to stay and experience it.

    Advice to Management

Invest in more staff and the product. Don't be complacent.
