    I worked at Priory Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Met some of the hardest working and resilient staff I have ever had the ensure to work with! That's all I can think of...

    Cons

    Not sure where to start with this... worked at the Priory Hospital Bristol for almost two years - most definitely the worst years of my work life. This place has left me damaged not only professionally but also on a personal level.

    The appalling management and treatment of their employees is beyond any body's comprehension.... It is so bad that it's actually impossible to describe. You have to live it to believe it and even then you will be questioning your mind thinking am I the crazy one here or is the whole hospital mad?

    surprised how they're still open and running.....

    Advice to Management

    Nothing will change if the management remains the same... just go away and bring new people in with some brain and management skills.... Please!!!!!

    I have been working at Priory Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    * Family atmosphere
    * Great pay for nurses
    * Good opportunities for promotion
    * Friendly and approachable management

    Cons

    * Whilst the building is beautiful it can be limited by it's Grade II listed status in that it would be great to drastically revamp some of the wards (including structural changes) to make them more appealing to staff and patients and to improve lines of sight for observations - particularly on PICU
    * Can take a long time for changes to be made if decided by the senior management team, i.e. improved pay scale for HCAs was decided in Jan 2016 and is still to come to fruition

    Advice to Management

    To improve retention of HCAs, you really need to implement the improved pay for HCAs as agreed - they are our eyes and ears and we need the good ones to stay.

    Also, some sort of "danger pay" for all staff working across PICU is 100% needed. It is unfair to be being paid the same as someone who will never get assaulted or abused by the patients when they are at their most unwell. This will make us feel more valued.

    I have been working at Priory Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Strong focus on quality and a values-based organisation.
    Very rewarding to be part of a team making a real difference to service user's lives.
    Strong team working & the opportunity to work with some really talented people.
    Company has significantly improved employee engagement: improved benefits, responds to feedback, makes meaningful changes as a result.
    Engaged leadership team and network of colleagues across the company who support individual sites.

    Cons

    Interaction between Priory's 4 Divisions at operational level is limited & could be better (especially to grow & retain our talented people).
    Training/development has historically been via e-learning modules, at the cost of face to face opportunities. The new Priory Academy & introduction of management training & leadership development opportunities are welcome & signal intent to improve.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to engage with colleagues across the business - the last 2 years have seen great progress, with meaningful engagement from the Executive Team down to site level.
