I worked at ProBuild full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

great kind of work, interesting and usually something new everyday. can be very fun and it will keep you in shape.

    Cons

if you're interviewing be aware of management and the duspatch if you are delivery. safety was not a big concern when money was to be made. several injuries due to not following policy. Human Resources did not care when I called them. we went through several managers and support staff (even the better ones because the location kept losing money on bad deals with customers). how good the job is really depends on location management. dispatch needs to know what they're doing and support the delivery teams.

    Advice to Management

human resources needs to be a nuetral party in disputes. it was painfully obvious they were not.
management needs reviews and support frequently.
safety is not voluntary! several injuries from walking over planking alone.
did not repair equipment in a timely manner
if people are required to be responsible for multiple jobs this needs to be mentioned in interview

I have been working at ProBuild full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The regular customers and several of the long term employees and a couple of the manager/supervisors make the job very enjoyable.

    Cons

Dealing with at least one very loud obnoxious supervisor who plays favorites and continually regales the store and customers with her and her families daily health issues and tells people she has the "poops" or gas or whatever ailment she happens to have, she will call out her employees for talking too much, not staying at their posts or taking too much time on breaks & lunches or not leaving on time while she is guilty of doing the same things, changes rules and procedures and schedules workers to suit her needs and the assistant manager, manager and human resource who believe everything this supervisor says. constantly changing rules that don't apply to everyone, slow check out times due to the company not wanting to update archaic equipment.

    Advice to Management

This store would do well to get rid of most of the managers and supervisors in this store and bring in an entirely new staff along with updating the entire computer and phone system.
