I worked at ProStep Rehabilitation full-time

    Pros

Other than competitive pay and nice co-workers in therapy department, there really were none

    Cons

Too many to list but here are just a few:
    1) An over the top obsessive-compulsive, minutia management style of the DOR was enough to make an seasoned therapist go absolutely CRAZY...she made it a point to control EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of your day, documentation, treatments, heck even our LUNCH hours;
    2) An absolutely crazy high productivity standards with absolutely ZERO job satisfaction, contentment or pride in what you do when working at this absolutely horrible facility in Elkins Park
    3) CNAs and LPNs spend most of their time looking busy when in reality they're doing bare bones minimum and God-forbid you ask them something - you get an attitude higher than my blood pressure
    4) And when they DID choose to "interact" with the mostly LTC residents was spent shaming, humiliating and intimidating them; it was AWFUL and when you spoke up about, they tried the same bully-tactics on you!
    5) THE MOST poorly run, poorly staffed facility I have EVER worked at - immediately upon entering the unit, you get overwhelmed and nauseous from the overpowering stench of urine; enough to sicken ANYONE
    6) When one resident from the upper dementia floor walked right out the door and into busy traffic, the police came because no one could get him inside; he was in very serious risk of getting hit and killed by a passing truck or car. The administrator went around telling people to LIE about what really happened, telling our rehab assistant to LIE, which she refused to do, just so THEY didn't look completely inept and incompetent and get slapped with a huge fine or worse, SHUT DOWN.

You can try, but you just can't hide the truth - you ARE what you ARE and it's a horrid disgraceful disgusting place to work and company to work for. They say all the time "Oh we understand; family comes first - do what you need to do" and then when a family emergency actually came up and our family was in the midst of watching a loved one die, they tell me I need to make my work a priority, that I seem "distracted and stressed out." Gee, REALLY?? Maybe because I WAS distracted and stressed out with slowly watching someone I love die. And that "Family friendly" crap you threw me?? It was only applicable if it didn't interrupt daily work, once it did, there was no compassion/no understanding/no flexibility. Afterall, "it's a business we're running here." Yeah I get it - a business. Well your business SUCKs and no amount of hard work or dedication is EVER or would ever be good enough for you and this crappy, disgusting, disgraceful facility. I've seen DOGS get treated better than some of those residents. Do yourself a favor and RUN from the this lying, two-timing, micromanaging company and one of it's WORST facilities. You are better OFF staying far FAR away.

    Advice to Management

WAKE UP PEOPLE!! You have no time for "the little people" tho you claim to be "family friendly" and oh so understanding. Lie, lies, lies. All of it. You either have no clue or you choose not to believe what is is going on here and that in and of itself is a terrible way to manage. Your DOR's need some serious how-to training on how NOT to micromanage every minute of every hour of every day of your employees lives. Patient care is NOT coming first and it's high time you acknowledge and CHANGE that.

I have been working at ProStep Rehabilitation (More than 5 years)

    Pros

history of a company that 'does the right thing', used to be very focused on making sure everyone was following all rules. Different buildings in the area have very different atmospheres

    Cons

increased demand for productivity as primary objective. uncertainty regarding sell off of buildings in PA and WV

I worked at ProStep Rehabilitation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best reason to work at this facility is the other therapists, they are absolutely incredible people to work with. The company offers decent benefits with very good PTO and competitive pay. It is a great place to learn a lot due to the complex caseload.

    Cons

The productivity expectation is 85%, which is doable most days except it does not allow for collaboration with therapy team members for better patient care. There is a very high turn over rate for therapists at this facility with 1-2 years being the maximum length of time most therapists stay. No paid holidays unless you use your PTO. There is very little room for career growth.

I worked at ProStep Rehabilitation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

None. No personal growth. Zero perks. No incentive to stay here.

    Cons

Hostile work environment and bullied by COTAs and PTAs. They hire the assistants for supervisor role so they don't have to pay anything and most of the time these assistants don't know much and are too interested in being called actual OT or PT. This company is also all about productivity and NOT about pt care. I was hired as a new grad MOT and I was bullied harassed and treated with such disdain by two cotas and one pta who were so jealous because they didn't have the OT title. So unfortunate that this company allows this type of behavior and treatment of new graduates. When I started there I was harassed by nursing for not smiling enough by nursing assistants cotas and ptas because they could. SHAME ON THIS COMPANY and the so called therapy assistants who want to be therapists soooo bad they torture everyone else for them lacking the motivation to go baack to school and put their money where their mouths are and get their degree disgusting behavior but Ill never forget and LAZY mgr

    Advice to Management

Get involved in what is actually going on during the day instead of hiding behind closed door sitting on their bottoms just waiting for the day to get over. No training what so ever. There was no offer of assistance of any kind and it is unfortunate that a company actually wants to be recognized for bullying, harassing behavior with lazy MGT and poor care of the patients. Allowing this type of thing to go on is a top down delivery model and the patients can feel this. I am a former employee and NEVER, NEVER again would I work for a company who is known ONLY for their BAD QUALITIES because they have NO GOOD QUALITIES.
