I have been working at ProTech Systems Group, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Most People are pleasant to work with.

    Cons

The president doesn't understand computers or staffing
The CEO doesn't understand who does the actual work in his company
Customer service manager is rude and if you disagree with her you get sent to the president.
Staff of 5+ years are all in clique and let everyone know it.
Staff of 5+ years stand around and do nothing, no one can complain or its their fault.
only a few people have rules that apply to them
no one will take ownership of a task. if you want it done, do it yourself.
Everyone fears losing their job and "cover" themselves at any cost.

    Advice to Management

Make the president and CEO STAY HOME! Management is often given directions only for the things to be flipped on their head or key staff to be fired during major initiatives.

I worked at ProTech Systems Group, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great management, very flexible, good pay, less stress and better working environment than competitors (other IT/IS consulting/contracting firms)

    Cons

Typical stress of consulting, going into environments that you may have to band-aid, customer may be down and everyone and all of the stress is on you as the engineer

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

    "Very poor recruiting company"

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

None, the company just throws resumes at client companies.

    Cons

This company contracts with small Indian recruiting companies to perform their initial candidate contacts the recruiters don't speak English and basically throw resumes to client companies. They are unprofessional and there is no follow up, it's just a very sloppy operation.

    Advice to Management

Require the recruiting companies you hire to do your work to be professional.

I worked at ProTech Systems Group, Inc. as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

The Recruiters are real down to earth and have all the "in's" in Memphis, if you are looking for a 6 -12 month consulting gig with some of the biggest shops in Memphis Protech should be your first stop.

    Cons

Some of there smaller clients are insanely disorganized, but that comes with the territory.

    Advice to Management

The Full-time employment opportunities as an Internal Engineer are less than appealing at the salary you offer if you consider the scoop of the duties involved.

"Extremely stressful environment and management is questionable at best."

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

You get to go home at 5pm.

    Cons

No room for growth or promotion as all report to president. He could care less what you think as he is more concerned about where the CEO is in the building and what the CEO thinks of him.

    Advice to Management

Find a plan and stick with it instead of constantly changing and hiring people with lies just to get them to join the company...then tell them the truth after they have signed a non-compete.

    Pros

The ability to determine your own future. Management consistently follows through with their stated intentions.

    Cons

There is a bit of employee "unrest" that has been allowed to continue. It is a very competitive environment to the point of employees turning on one another.

    Advice to Management

Direct correction only where it belongs. While universal directives have their place, I feel like guilty parties take group reprimands as an license to continue their lack of compliance.
