I worked at Progress Energy full-time

    Pros

The benefits are good, good downtown location.

    Cons

The leadership change during Duke Energy acquisition was super sketchy. Definitely a somewhat hostile work environment.

    Pros

Great company to work for, I would still be working for them if the oil and gas industry was thriving.

Merged with Duke Energy. That is it.

I worked at Progress Energy (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Good technical job. Worked with a lot of highly talented technical people.

    Cons

Many, many hours. To move up you have to move around from site to site to site. Not good with a family - that is for sure.

I worked at Progress Energy full-time

    Pros

A lot of good people. Benefits were nice. Opportunities to develop and work in different groups within IT.

    Cons

Progression was really slow for me in the company. With all companies have to do deal with the politics. Merger with Duke did not go over to well with folks in the IT Dept.

    Advice to Management

Develop your employees, look at how to leverage talents on your team, and provide challenging tasks when possible.

I worked at Progress Energy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, pay was ok like getting bonus. Safety is a big goal! Always had work to do

    Cons

Went downhill after merger with Duke Energy! Duke doesn't really care about Progress Energy employees! New
CEO was suppose to visit our dept and never showed up!

    Advice to Management

    Don't take employees for granted!

I worked at Progress Energy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Progress Energy is a great place to work! The management teams are well trained management, the company offers a nice balance of work and life, and the compensation is competitive.

    Cons

Utility regulation. Duke Energy merger until complete is a bit unsettling for associates.

    Advice to Management

Make the Duke/Progress merger outcome outstanding from a culture perspective.
