I have been working at Progress Residential full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent pay, better healthcare options than years past

    Cons

after restructure the company is complete politics, promotions are based off friendship not seniority or work performance, no more "perks" to work here, Management turned into Us vs you instead of one team, required to work weekends (may not be every weekend but dont think its only M-F, even if thats what they hired you for), if employees quit they expand your requirements and numbers to hit so that the company... doesn't suffer, not realizing the employees are

    Advice to Management

Stop and think about whos making your company money. Its the everyday worker on the front lines. When they bring up issues with systems or innovative ideas dont be so quick to shoot them down, listen. Stop taking away all of the perks, we used to have catered breakfasts or lunches or mixers after work, we would get t-shirts and gear, we would celebrate monthly birthdays and get out early for holidays. You took away... all of that and there is no more a benefit to working here over anywhere else. This restructure has driven away people from this company who were here for 3,4,5+ years. Thats not a coincidence, none of you stop to ask why the turnover is so high and why positions have been open online for months at a time. Its not the jobs people are quitting its the managers.

    Pros

Dynamic environment with people who do their best to execute the company's mission. Dedicated team members Flexibility Excellent Markets and clientele High Growth potential of markets

    Cons

Grandiose vision on a good idea but extremely poor execution at the corporate level. High growth drives field associates to extreme work hours and reduced quality levels. Poor corporate leadership

    Advice to Management

Realign priorities and treat associates better. Do a better job thinking through change/execution as well as communication to field

I worked at Progress Residential full-time

    Pros

The pay was good as well as the benefits.

    Cons

No room for growth. Culture of he say she say. New people come in and want immediate gratification.

    Advice to Management

Take care of tenured employees and if an issue comes up ask the employee about it first.

I have been working at Progress Residential full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Hours are nice and for most departments Monday through Friday until they change that as well.

    Cons

Benefits keep getting taking away from employees, the fun and culture is turning cold and corporate like. Took away one of our floating holidays, stoped celebrating birthdays, stopped almost all the fun. Not all departments are created equal. The company and markets get to leave early on days before holiday with pay while others have to stay and work. With benefits slipping away there’s less reasons to stay with a... company who started out taking care of their people and now just care about the money. It’s just sad.

    Advice to Management

Stop taking away the benefits from employees. Give back the floating holiday that was taken away. Treat departments equally. And start taking care of your employees again.

I worked at Progress Residential full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, company wide team events.

    Cons

Shady people create a negative atmosphere. This goes for team leads and regular employees. Typical corporate office drama amongst the employees and higher ups. There is definitely a level of favoritism at this place.

I have been working at Progress Residential full-time

    Pros

None, you do not want to work here

    Cons

This is a toxic work environment with very poor and disorganized management. They do not know how to run a business. There is no growth opportunities and frequent layoffs, I would highly suggest looking elsewhere for employment.

I worked at Progress Residential full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Management of single family homes is much more challenging than multifamily and requires people with high skillsets to be successful. You will come across some talented people at Progress, and there is a good opportunity to learn depending on what department or market you are in.

    Cons

What you learn you will likely take out the door with you when you find a better opportunity. No shortage of politics and you can have employee after employee leave and no one seems to ask why. There is no accountability for leaders in a market who mismanage and create a toxic culture. Property management requires teamwork and that was not promoted in the market, instead you have people constantly digging for... problems and second guessing good decisions. There are constant procedural changes that disrupt the day to day particularly with the service operation which impacts leasing and the residents. Only have to check online reviews from residents to see the complaints to know there is a significant issue and it wears on all the employees when there is always a crisis that should have been avoided. Company is constantly looking to drive down costs which makes it difficult to keep quality vendors, and employees at multiple levels find ways to "make the metrics look good" which seems to cover up some issues. Most employees find little work / life balance due to the disorganization.

    Advice to Management

Putting a 360 review would be a first step, but the culture needs improvement. Engage with all employees. Hire people that respect others. Need to get past the idea that this is a new industry or some sort of startup to explain how disorganized things are. Its property management and that's been around for a long time.

I have been working at Progress Residential full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-The incentives are always there - Free coffee, ping pong, catered food often, etc. -Very casual environment. -Everyone is extremely helpful, no one will leave you hanging.

    Cons

-Management is disorganized at times... You could be given a directive at 8am and it will change by 10am without notice (But, this is to be expected with a company and department that's still in its infancy). -The confusion with new directives is always present, and poorly communicated at times. If you bring an issue up to management, they will hear you out and listen to you voice your concerns, but there really... isn't any follow up.

    Advice to Management

I know this is a newer company, but a little more organization goes a long way. Follow up with your employees when they bring an issue to your attention; don't let weeks go by before they reach back out to you for an update. If you say you will truly take care of something, take care of it.
