I have been working at Progressive Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits, Great pay relative to other insurance companies, can move up very quickly. Can switch between departments and offices. 401k is awesome. Management is awesome.

    Cons

If you are not a self-starter and cannot work independently this is not for you. They will not hold your hand the whole way you need to stay focused and be determined

I have been working at Progressive Insurance full-time

    Pros

Work from home. Gainshare. Good benefits. Call volume is not as busy as a customer service rep.

    Cons

You have to bid for your schedule every year. The better your yearly evaluation, the better chance you have to get the schedule you want. Your schedule will most likely change yearly.

I have been working at Progressive Insurance (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Gainshare, ability to work from home, decent benefits, great co-workers.

    Cons

Work life balance sucks. I note in some of these reviews it says that's not an issue, but most are not in the customer service roll. Scheduling is very rigid. Attendance policy is now black and white. Whether you call off to day drink or call off because you are ill (Dr note provided), both are treated the same. Extreme micromanagement. Heavy call load constantly. Main metric based off of cross selling homeowners insurance instead of focusing on servicing.

    Advice to Management

Progressive is taking a sad turn from the company I started with that truly cared for their employees and took a holistic approach. Don't lose your employees in numbers. The have names that are not stats.

I have been working at Progressive Insurance full-time

    Pros

Pay and vacation are good, most of the management truly care about their people.

    Cons

Too much focus on perception and not enough time taken to discover reality. The annual review process is improving, but still has a ways to go to remove some of the subjectivity.

    Advice to Management

Stop talking about our differences and focus more on our similarities. Our gender, race and lifestyle shouldn’t be such a prevalent topic of conversation at the corporate level because it’s creating divisions and discriminatory hiring and promotion practices. The intent of diversity and inclusion is well placed but it’s missing the mark. Rethink the messaging because you are unintentionally excluding a lot of people.

I have been working at Progressive Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I feel the pay and benefits will be the balance of the position. The benefits seem appealing.

    Cons

The only thing that has led me to not be over the top excited about this position is the hours. I can handle every single Saturday easily-even if that is not preferred, but working early evenings 5 days a week (options of 7pm or 9pm) is the reason I may not continue. Current employees should be able to transfer to shifts available when they are hiring and filling training classes. New employees should not be offered shifts of hours current employees would like.

    Advice to Management

Good employees should know about options available to alter hours. Shift bidding is great but a year commitment to non-preferred hours is not only going to deter qualified applicants, but loose some great applicants.

I have been working at Progressive Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Progressive has good benefits and the yearly bonus is attractive.

    Cons

The workload is not reasonable. Progressive lacks diversity at all levels. It is especially obvious in Leadership roles!

    Advice to Management

This is 2018. How does a Corporation ignore the lack of diversity for so long? Is this your culture?
