I have been working at Prometheus Global Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It's great to get to work on known brands such as the Hollywood Reporter, Adweek and Billboard.com. You get to work with a team of smart developers with healthy support from the offshore team. There's a relaxed work schedule, rarely do we have to work more than 40 hours a week. Along with that are reasonable expectations. No one is expecting you to kill yourself by working long hours week after week.

    Cons

There are not enough developers to get all the work done, so sometimes quality suffers. We have a slew of issues that are waiting, but higher priorities. Also, there's constant shifting in the upper management.

    Advice to Management

either cut down on releasing new apps, products, site improvements or beef up on developers

I worked at Prometheus Global Media full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Billboard & the Hollywood Reporter are amazing brands. The edit/photo/video teams have a lot of heart. HR strives to create morale-boosting activities. Some wonderful intelligent people here.

    Cons

Sales is set up like Lord of the Flies. Budgetary and staffing decisions feel amateurish and not in the best interest of the people actually getting the work done, rather in the self-interest of the management. Chaotic, no method to the madness, always feels like a company being primed for a sale.

    Advice to Management

The talent you have or have had and lost, are not as expendable as you treat them to be. New acquisitions and wheeling and dealing (and playing at being a company) are not the key to success. Or good karma for that matter. Every talented person you have will seek to use their talents at your competitors. If you care about this, start behaving accordingly.

I have been working at Prometheus Global Media full-time

    Pros

Access to many powerful people if you make the effort. There are always successful, major activations and stories and events going on, which is good.

    Cons

Too much of a behemoth, but too robotic. Soulless, even. Easy to feel disconnected from the people around you, especially if coming in as an acquired brand. Access to resources is too political.

    Advice to Management

Invest not only in your "brands," but in the people actually working for them. They matter. Lack of care is more palpable than you think.

    Pros

Lots of freedom editorially - but to a fault.

    Cons

If you're applying to work at Billboard, make sure you're a white straight man. They may tout a Women in Music event every year, but they consisently promote and hire straight, white men to editorial positions above qualified, hardworking women and minorities. There's been an exodus of female editors after the latest round of reshuffling. Editorial direction is also lacking; everyone works in their own world with... little communication.

    Advice to Management

The editorial team needs a massive overhaul. Would be smart to hire women, LGBT people and POC. I brought this up in my exit interview, and I'm sure it's spread around the office by now given that the HR team are notorious gossip hounds.

I worked at Prometheus Global Media for more than a year

    Pros

The company's brands have enjoyed a huge boost in the past few years. They are very forward thinking with digital content, especially when it comes to video, and there is a lot of room to try new things in those areas.

    Cons

Since Janice Min left her editorial post, the quality of editorial content has plunged, and a lot of talented editors have either left or been fired. That, coupled with some questionable marketing of the brands gives the company a less optimistic outlook than it had a year ago. There was also a good amount of sexism coming from the mostly-male senior staff.

    Advice to Management

The company has already gotten itself into hot water with labor laws pertaining to freelance hiring. Please adhere to stricter guidelines and make parameters more clear—unless you want more lawsuits. Also, remember that without quality journalism and content, you'll lose access to and the respect of the talent you work with (MTV anyone?).

I worked at Prometheus Global Media full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They managed to hire a great team, smart informed people

    Cons

Went through 7 publishers while I was there. Each publisher came onboard with a different agenda and action plan. CEO focused on larger Prometheus initiatives and not the small media publications and websites.

    Advice to Management

Try to find someone at the helm who is capable of making money for the company

I have been working at Prometheus Global Media full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fun, smart co-workers who know the music industry inside and out

    Cons

Hilariously under-qualified people leading departments because of their connection to Janice Min. lots of talent, but also lots of senior level editors and dept heads that don't foster growth and turn the place into a revolving door.

    Advice to Management

Access whether middle/upper-management/department heads are doing their jobs properly. There's a fifty percent chance they're suffocating the brand.

I worked at Prometheus Global Media full-time

    Pros

Great employees with a genuine desire to see their respective brands succeed, which isn't always easy with all the editorial changes that keep them in flux.

    Cons

Owners of the company don't install proper management with vision to steer the ship, which is needed keep this place from falling apart at the seams. Desperately trying to make money from trade publications with little consumer connection in the marketplace.

    Advice to Management

Spend a little money on the office environment so that visiting clients and artists aren't just seeing a generic cube farm with less than stellar bathrooms.
