Great People, Great Culture. Stands Out From The Rest!
Jun 13, 2017 - Portfolio ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Prometheus is a wonderful place to work! Prometheus promises "Home at Work" and we deliver! It's a special environment whether you work at one of our many neighborhoods or in Home Office. There is a laid back vibe and a care for all Prometheans. When I say care, I actually mean it! The people around you truly want the best for you and that's a cool feeling to have at your workplace! Most Prometheus job opportunities are filled by internal promotions or referrals. We develop and grow our talent! There are so many opportunities out there for Prometheans, especially if you live in the Bay Area where we are are the largest private owner of multifamily homes! We're growing too... look out for new neighborhoods coming your way. We don't try to be like everyone else! We want to be different. We want to be revolutionary! Come view one of our neighborhoods and you'll see that it's not a typical leasing experience. We give back to the communities we operate in too! Our POrCH program allows Prometheans to volunteer time and get involved. We back it up with our pocketbooks too. Prometheus donates a large amount of money every year to worthy causes. If you want to work somewhere cold, bottom-line obsessed, then you'll find plenty of companies out there. If you want lots of good vibes, smiles, and warm, fuzzy feelings that sustain you while you work hard with other passionate people, then you're looking at the right company! Prometheus is where it's at! Come on home!
Cons
Prometheus takes all reviews seriously and tries to tackle anything that comes up as a con. That makes it hard to find something that hasn't already been addressed or in process to be addressed. All that said, Prometheans tend to earn a little less then the market warrants for their skillset, talents, and personality. We make up for it in 100% paid benefits and culture but it would be nice to see us make some changes around pay/bonuses.

Changes for better future.
Nov 25, 2021 - Field Service Technician in San Mateo, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
1 Full paid benefits. 2 401K. 3 Some perks. 4 Bonus but now have been divided to twice a year. 5 Some good people to work with. 6 Housing discounts. 7 Tuition reimbursement.
Cons
1 Housing discounts are not the greatest based on prices around the area, you can rent an independent place at the same price as the discounted housing offered by the company. 2 401K is matched but only 50%, you are fully vested at 4 years with the company, some other companies match 100%. 3 Recognition runs like the mafia, only the circle of friends get constant recognition and promotions, it doesn't really matter if the rest of the company knows that the recognition or the promotion wasn't deserved or has been given as a favor, the hard workers who really deserve it are often left behind and neglected. If you want to become someone in the company you need to know the right people and constantly kiss the bottom line if you know what I mean or become someone's favorite. 4 This part gets me sad. The company constantly preaches that the employees are number one and treated equal but their actions speak otherwise. When a new field employee gets hired they do an news letter recognizing the new employee stating their name and position together with other employees and that's it but when someone at corporate gets hired with a PHD or BA or other titles, a company wide email is sent welcoming the new employee asking everyone to welcome him/her making the field employee feel unimportant or less of a human being than the corporate employee, sad. 5 This one is really bad, I don't know how or why but bullies are on a rampage in the company, the bullies constantly attack other employees that often are minorities and can't defend themselves which makes me think that the race card is played, the bullies hide behind upper management and HR, HR makes sure the bullying is justified and constantly cover for the bully which feels encouraged to do more bullying because someone has their back, they even cover for all kinds of harassment and no one does nothing.
Continue readingThank you for your honest feedback and we are so sorry to hear about your experience. We are committed to providing a workplace that is safe and free of unlawful discrimination and harassment and do not tolerate bullying of any kind. If you are open to chatting with us, we would appreciate that so we can better understand your experience and address your concerns. Our goal is for Prometheans to feel comfortable speaking with HR, but we understand that there may be times when Prometheans feel more comfortable speaking with a third party. As a result, we provide a toll-free hotline for employees to speak honestly and openly about Promethean related issues. We want all our Prometheans to feel welcome and HOME at work and it is our goal to make sure all voices are heard.

Great Company with a GREAT culture!
Feb 24, 2022 - Portfolio Manager in San Mateo, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I've been very familiar with Prometheus Real Estate Group since the early 2000s. One of the many things that attracted me to this management company is it's culture. So when I got the opportunity to join the NorCal team I was beyond ecstatic but also very nervous. Nervous if everything I heard is true, I'm happy to say that the proof is in the pudding and that they really foster the culture that they talk about. It was also nice that I got the opportunity to work with some of my old colleagues when I was in Archstone (you know who you are!). I still hold the same excitement as I did when I first started about 9 months ago. The best part is that the teams from different departments foster the 'we' attitude versus the 'me' attitude. Ideas are encouraged and praised, even if some don't go very far it's the effort and appreciation that is given. I can honestly say that I've witnessed first hand the passion and camaraderie of my fellow Promethean when I'm out and about. They also have an awesome volunteer program that anyone can participate in. Like many other PMCs we offer the normal range of benefits but your medical, dental, and vision are all paid for. So that's easily more money in your pocket if you're concerned with that. I would highly recommend Prometheus to anyone who is looking to find a PMC that is focused around 'Good Living for the Greater Good.' Also a great company to start your career in if you're looking to take a step into Property Management!
Cons
In regards to cons, the only thing that comes to the mind is the number of software systems in place. It can be quite overwhelming at first if you're not tech savvy. However, it is definitely something that you can learn and get past rather quickly.

Aug 13, 2021 - Neighbor Ambassador in Portland, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Free Health Care for self, spouse/partner and all dependents, 401(K) match, paid volunteering time, and wonderful little extra benefits. The Company Culture is inviting, supportive and family like.
Cons
Every loves it so much that they spend there whole career here. We're talking people with 5 - 25 years experience. Which is fantastic except it makes upward mobility really difficult.

Great opportunities, but the ceiling is low
Jan 9, 2019 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- fully paid benefits (premiums paid 100%). 401k matching - inspiring culture and amazing people to work with - volunteer/charity program gives any employee the opportunity to give to a cause if one can demonstrate why it is worthy - I am home experience is present in all corners of the company - company events multiple times a year that foster the family feel - tuition reimbursement and scholarship programs are just a couple examples of how expansive the company’s desire is to see you grow your knowledge and creativity
Cons
- management style, direction, and skill varies widely. Sometimes difficult to navigate compatible and mutual work efforts. - several departments are understaffed and overworked. Often when a position becomes vacant, existing employees are asked to take on extra work to fill the void for long periods of time with no incentive, overtime, or designated time frame. - opportunity to grow is abundant (pro) until a certain point (con). Higher level opportunities in nearly all departments are limited. - career titles are often misleading or don’t match the job descriptions well, making resume building difficult at times - low housing discount
