I worked at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved the benefits of receiving teacher training, school supplies, and weekly community events such as movie night with my students and their families.

    Cons

Having more time to lesson plan during the student's specials.

    Advice to Management

I would continue preparing for state testing since students love interactive games!

I worked at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great students! The faculty and staff are deeply caring. They work very hard for students and families. The teachers put in a great deal of extra hours for their students.

    Cons

Lack of accountability on the administrative side and very inconsistent when it comes to applying rules they create. They just need to work on follow through and holding people accountable for their responsibilities. They can also improve by making sure faculty and staff are properly trained to report student information. They don't apply the message they give to kids to their faculty and staff, i.e. equity.

    Advice to Management

It would help to give faculty and staff the same consideration given to students and families. Take time to make sure everyone understands the rules and hold people accountable when they don't meet their responsibilities or deadlines instead of waiting until it is a big problem or safety issue. Be consistent.

I worked at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The teachers are nice and caring. The students are wonderful. Very fulfilling. They have opportunities to make a bit more by participating in after school committees.

    Cons

It's very rigid. You get yelled at by the secretary if you an accidentally miss a lunch duty, even the very first time. You need to directly call the Principal's cell if you're going to be sick even though he doesn't deal with it - it's for accountability.

    Advice to Management

Treat the teachers with more respect and less like children. It feels a bit too policed.

    Pros

The people that work here are great and work very hard.

    Cons

The expectations of the job were overstated. The work being completed was aggravating and not for me.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

    Pros

Children of older grades are great.

    Cons

Very limited support for new teachers, not keeping the new teacher informed about what is going on in the school. Rather than a teacher, constantly feeling like a waitress, trying to satisfy the need of students and parents. Can't have one's own standard.

    Advice to Management

Provide more support for new faculty. This is a school, not service industry.
