I have been working at Prosper Inc. part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A concrete contractor that has carved out a solid place in the federal bid system, they have substantial business and maintain themselves very well.

They're a small company, but they do a lot of big work, and the owners are great.

    Cons

It's construction, so there are bound to be seasonal layoffs for laborers, and it's just tough work administratively when jobs don't get paid or if something goes wrong.

    Advice to Management

Get a project manager that can work with Sage, and focus on building out other companies under the Prosper Companies umbrella.

I worked at Prosper Inc. part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

While Prosper offers its coaches flexible schedules and pretty easy work dispensing knowledge, the reality is they are pitching the dream to unqualified people. It began to feel like I was perpetuating a fraud after a while. The other coaches were pretty cool.

    Cons

Some of the people I was asked to coach and help kick-start their own online business (for $6000-15000, not including any marketing or other startup services) were so clueless they could not even figure out how to open their browser and do a Google search. Why people so unsophisticated are being promised success is beyond me.

We were encouraged to get a success story from 1 in 10 students. A "success story" was no more than them having made any amount of money online...which we usually achieved by getting them to sell some of their old junk on Ebay. The rationale was that if they made 10 dollars they could make 100 and then 1000 and so on over time and that it was a start.

While the company's legal team probably ensures everything they do is within the limits of the law, I felt that the business of fulfilling the dream was unethical. Plus many members of management were friends with the owners and were not very competent in their positions. My manager's manager, for example, had a few years experience managing a cell phone store.

So while they pay well this is basically a hypey, scammy company and I would stay away or you will feel your soul corrupted day in and day out.

    Advice to Management

Do not just allow anyone with money and a pulse into your coaching programs. Lose the nepotism.

    Pros

Great energy there. Enjoyed working with highly motivated individuals. They often offer free breakfast or lunch and there are incentives/bonuses for performing well which motivates you to do a better job.

    Cons

Mid level management at that time was unhelpful and would actual be a detriment at times to meeting your goals. However, team leaders and the founders are awesome. They help you set goals and actually achieve them.

    Advice to Management

Hire mid level management who inspire through actions and example.
