Protiviti is a great way to start your career. They offer great training and exposure to a variety of different organizations and companies.

    Cons

A lot of travel involved. Some people might like this but it got tiring after a while.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the great training! Try to gauge interest in travel before placing people on engagements.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Employee Recognition
    Opportunity to Make an Impact
Leadership is Open to Ideas and Advice from Staff
Big 4 experience without the impact to work life balance

    Cons

Very Compliance and Internal Audit focused. (Not necessarily a con but something to be aware of)
Focused on hiring externally for specialty skills instead of growing internally.

    Advice to Management

Look within the company to grow skills in specialty solutions instead of always focusing internally.
Hold back the pressure on chargeability. Give time for people to build their skills and work on making the company better without taking a hit on their performance reviews.

    - good vacation benefits

    Cons

    - majority of the projects are audit or compliance related
    - as with any consulting firm, travel can be frequent and with late notice

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Overall very collaborative and entrepreneurial. There is always an opportunity to take on more responsibility and prove yourself for the next level.

    Cons

Lots of travel opportunities, so be prepared to spend a majority of your time on the road. Formal feedback can be a lengthy process with constructive criticism coming too late to make a difference.

    Advice to Management

Change formal feedback process so it is more timely.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - There a few people at the management level who actually want to retain employees and make best efforts to retain employees
    - Flexible hours
    - Great culture

    Cons

    - Certain Risk and Compliance solution employees get promoted every year. There is little consideration for years of experience or individual potential. Promotions are a joke; only based on favoritism and not on performance.
    - Only Risk and Compliance practice members lead the high visibility initiatives and produce zero results. They leverage other people's work to go up the ladder. The Managers and Senior Managers in this solution are less knowledgeable and have less PM skills as compared to their peers in other solutions.
    - Projects are not very challenging and you may feel that you have been demoted 2 levels when you work on them.
    - There is no consideration for staffing on right projects and in often case it does not match your skill set at all. You can be staffed on these projects for months together as advisers only focus on keeping you chargeable.

    Advice to Management

    - There are other solutions which exist besides Risk and Compliance. Their peers may have more potential to work on global initiatives and projects than Risk and Compliance folks alone. Does not provide a feeling of one single company.
    - Politics exists at higher levels and one should get to the root of it. Otherwise the employees can be left demotivated and frustrated.

    Pros

Everyone loves what they do at Protiviti which makes the work environment very accepting and enjoyable. All of the staff members are young as well who understand the importance of work/life balance. Though someday the training is lacking, I personally believe they do a great job at providing every worker the right set of tools to accomplish their goals. Overall, I highly recommend this company!

    Cons

A lot of traveling but you are able to voice your opinion to management if you want to try something else with less traveling for future project.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work
