I have been working at Prudential full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people. Good culture. Descent benefits. There is a lot to learn in this organization. There are various businesses in the US and globally.

    Cons

Compensation could be below market. This could force people to look outside. The promotions are far and few. Management is very stingy with bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Keep pace with Manhattan salaries. The discount to NYC is very high. Promote from within and sooner.

I have been working at Prudential full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Opportunity for Income
    Meet new people
    Supportive Management

    Cons

    Initial Income
While training you aren't given leads, you have to call family and friends
It is really hard to get off to a fast start and make real money
It is also difficult to get used to all commission pay no matter how many hours you put in

    Advice to Management

Focus more on training and less on just appointments. Work with the new people on their calls and make sure they are saying the right things. Don't just let them loose and hope they do the right thing.

I worked at Prudential as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great internship that had several events for all interns and a summer long project to present on the last day. One of the best welcoming days and ice- breakers that I have attended.

    Cons

As an intern, there were not many employees that were younger or recent college grads.

I have been working at Prudential full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Strong brand name
Expanding platforms to be competitive (thanks to DOL)
Good benefits - ROTH 401k, health & dental, pension, Stock discount and MF discounts...

    Cons

Depends on what agency you work at! Experiences vary in a big way
Pay is 100% commission & bonus which is tough and breeds really habits and people.
The training program is not as comprehensive as it is made out to be and the office politics are terrible.
Management corners "new org" FPAs and FPs into selling core products (life nad annuities) so that they make their bonuses while actively discouraging personal development through licensing and designation work...this may change with DOL?

    Advice to Management

Pay a small base salary and be honest about actual pay in the first two years. YOU WILL NOT MAKE $75-85k unless you live in an area of the country where avg salaries are higher and populations are dense.
