I worked at Prysm full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

On paper, the product is very cool and cutting-edge. Most of the people are fun to work with

    Cons

Company has no direction, no financial stability moving forward. The leadership is lacking in all business units. Much of the product demonstrations are smoke in mirrors, whereas in the client environment, the usability is lacking.

    Advice to Management

Start over from the leadership perspective. Need to truly have a business plan that doesn't changed 2-3 times a year.

I worked at Prysm full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with people at levels at Prysm in a high tech environment. I enjoyed freedom to make an impact. Technology is amazing, and leadership team involved and engaging, most of the time. Overall, I had good experience, made some new friends.

    Cons

Technology being at the intersection of Optics, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical engineering disciplines, there were challenges, or the opportunity for innovation. I enjoyed the evolution of the technology during my stay.

    Advice to Management

Continue to engage with employees. All Hands were great!

    Pros

Worked in Carmel, Indiana office where I was granted tons of autonomy and given responsibility on major company projects. Very friendly and inviting colleagues as well as free snacks and meals on Thursdays. Product is used throughout business operations and smaller size made creating personal relationships easy- even had opportunity to interact with high-level executives in small-scale meetings. Tons of new hires during my tenure, company is growing rapidly.

    Cons

Poor onboarding process and underdeveloped internship program. The company's product is above most in its market but internal management shortcomings are holding back the company from true expansion. As intern ended up having much less communication with other interns/sectors of the business because there was no plan in place to facilitate collaborative efforts.

    Advice to Management

Develop best practices for internal functions such as onboarding, sales processes, etc. Must scale up to catch up with current growth

    Pros

Super cool product-very unique to the industry. Very passionate and excited folks with lots of ideas. Product, Dev and R&D team sees visions and works hard to meet goals and continues to grow and better the product. High-level company wide goals and visions are addressed often as the company and product changes shape.

    Cons

Lack of communication, teamwork and leadership on the sales side. Terrible on-boarding and training process, lousy management styles and very little knowledge of useful selling tools. Internal process has a tendency to really slow down the sales process. At times it feels there are way too many cooks in the kitchen, but that's what you get with most people in sales.

    Advice to Management

Work on bettering the on-boarding experience

    Pros

Amazing team of co-workers willing to assist in any and all projects.

    Cons

Facilities are in the midst of being updated so space is sometimes tight and during construction it can be difficult to perform some of the more precise testing required for samples.

    Pros

Working with very nice people. They have a fantastic product. The company has mediocre benefits but does allow for work life balance.

    Cons

Salaries cannot compete with the Valley and are very low. They claim to have a start-up environment but it looks and feels like working for an old established organization. Administrative staff is underpaid and unhappy. And, HR needs an overhaul starting from the top.

    Advice to Management

Raise salaries to market/competitive rate. Pay attention to your top HR staff

I worked at Prysm full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Prysm is a company with 250+ people and an experienced management team in the senior/executive and mid-level. Benefits are reasonable.

    Cons

It has the usual problems a company its size has. It is still a private company so there is no financial information available to the public. No sales or revenue information is available.

    Advice to Management

The management needs to set realistic, achievable goals for a given time frame. Better communicate short-term and mid-range goals and targets.
