I have been working at Publicis full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good work life balance

    Decent people

There's a lot going on so there is always something to learn

Average office space - nothing special (no sunlight)

    Cons

Agencies are large and there's a lot of red tape. Hard to get anything approved or completed.

    Some people are micro managers

Too many things try to be accomplished at once

I worked at Publicis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

One of the major agencies in Chicago due to the fact it's headquartered here. Big clients and good talent alongside will help you grow leaps and bounds professionally.

    Cons

Leadership doesn't care about talent, knows the issue but does little to fix them. Compensation is way below industry average and while there are some amazing people remaining, the talent pool is getting worse due to its backwards hiring and talent retention practice.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue and actually make meaningful changes centered around your PEOPLE instead of touting how many awards you keep winning every year. Figure out a way to make the company profitable while actually being transparent to your employees. You can blast emails about company values all you want, but it's just words until you act on it.

    Pros

Nice people and great benefits. Probably one of the best work life balance companies.

    Cons

    Not enough structure.

    Advice to Management

    Manage client's expectations

I have been working at Publicis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I get to wear jeans and a nice shirt to work everyday. The people I work with are very helpful and understanding.

    Cons

Some layoffs and pretty good amount of turnover. Not really a fan of the constant mergers of marketing agencies. Too many technologies being implemented that need to be narrowed down.

    Advice to Management

    Be more open with employees.

    Pros

Collaboration, mobility between business units and an open mind to diversity. Good infrastructure and opportunities for personal growth and development.

    Cons

Can get lost in the big network, tough to navigate who's who across business agencies. Healthcare should get more credit for importance of business over advertising.

    Advice to Management

Keep us updated on people changes and network connections

I worked at Publicis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You will learn a lot about time management, prioritizing asks and navigating a multi-layered corporate environment. It's a grind, but teaches effectively how to manage high-volume workloads

Leadership is interested in providing exposure to industry learnings

    Cons

There's a tension between the T-Mobile account and the "everything else" in the agency.

Leadership strives to have a strong culture, but there's never the time it takes to participate and benefit.

    Advice to Management

It's as important to protect the time needed to learn as it is to provide the curriculum of learning.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Publicis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Big agency resources; lots of smart, friendly people; solid benefit plan(s); somewhat decent client roster so there might be opportunities

    Cons

All the expected down-sides of a big agency; management isn't overly connected with the people in the trenches; they sometimes seem more concerned with looking like a big, relevant agency than actually being one; they don't allocate their creative resources well to the point ti felt like they were playing favorites or just weren't aware of who people were or putting them in positions to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Remember that your people are human beings and not just line items on a spreadsheet. Acknowledge that raises, promotions and ability to grow/climb are limited. Be more aware of the people you have on your roster and try to maximize their potential to make the agency and the employee better.
