    Pros

    Good benefits, when the managers are good they’re really good, a lot of room for growth if you get a good manager.

    Cons

    It really feels like a cult mentality, if they ask you to stay and you don’t they will cut your hours if you’re part time or start taking away responsibilities you were given if you’re full time. It wasn’t uncommon for most of the associates to stay and work 12-18 hour days to cover for a callout while managers stayed in their office and then went home right on time. Hard work does not get you up the ladder in this company no matter how much they push that. They’ll hire you at part time while gloating about how everyone starts “from the bottom” and then the next week will hire someone full time in your department while also paying that person $2-$4 more than you. You can spend years trying to climb that ladder and people YOU TRAINED who started after you will be in management while you’re left to bust your butt.

    Benefits are great. Good community within each department. Flexible hours.

    Cons

    Management in store can be lazy/standing around talking. No recognition. Mooching for better pay.

    Engaging with customers, meeting new people, great opportunities for a raise every 6 months, getting to know fellow associates, coupons for free deli items every once in a while.

    CSS pros and cons

    Pros

    I loved working at publix. I was pretty much a full time CSS during covid, working nearly 38 hours a week and even getting OT. Being able to be in a fast paced enviornment was exciting but often stressful.

    Cons

    I learned that being the reliable one and being the first one to take a shift for someone meant only more work less respect. I became the reliable CSS and people sadly took advantage knowing I would never say no. I was ready to help out even until my last day.
