    Pros

Whether you want a career, a college job, or a second job, Publix is the place to be. Overall, it is a great company to work for, and by far the best grocery store to be a part of. Decent benefits. Great 401K. If you're not taking advantage of the stock, you're throwing money away. They also give stock after years of service. Quarterly coupons. Schedule flexibility for college students. Generous moving package for promotions. Heavily involved in the communities with donations, volunteering, etc. We are always top leaders in community outreach in each area. *Tuition reimbursement. Excellent about following state labor laws: breaks before the 6 hr mark, minors hours. Easy to move departments. You will meet lots of people and make friends in each department. Lots of opportunities to move up and quickly IF you are more open to relocating.

    Cons

Dental is not great; impossible to find a dentist that will accept the insurance provider. No maternity/paternity leave at all. The covid response was disappointing. Very hard to move up; lots of competition. A lot has changed and improved, but there is still a prevalent 'boys club' atmosphere and it can be difficult for women to move up. *Tuition reimbursement is only for select degrees. It can often be denied each semester by management; often need to fight for reimbursement. As you continue to climb the ladder, it can be a very tough company to work for. There are 'dump stores' and it can be rough to work for. IF you want to be successful here, you MUST be willing to relocate for positions.

    Good First Job

    Pros

Good work family experience, great place to build interpersonal skills and team work. Met my husband here and many of my closest friends.

    Cons

Sexism in promotions and when assigning roles (“good ole boys” mentality), women (especially teen-aged) allowed to be sexually harassed not only by customers but employees. Degrees mean nothing in terms of pay or promotion. Tolerant of LGBTQ+ but neither accepting or supportive.

    Pros

The staff is friendly and the customers are regulars so they tend to be friendly.

    Cons

The customer service managers are great, but during the closing shift they aren't there so you get managed by the other department managers. Most of them have no clue what they're doing and try to hard to be strict.
