I worked at Publix part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Hours are very flexible,
    Easy Job
Discounts to a lot of items that aren't Publix (Such as Disney)

    Cons

Favoritism, the Team leader is in charge of the front, and usually picks the people he/she doesn't like the most to do the annoying tasks.
Hours with an open schedule can vary dramatically, 30 hours one week to 5 hours the next
You might be stuck with cleaning duty for 4-5 nights in a row
The lunch breaks are always scheduled badly, for ex 8 hour shift, your break will be 2 hours in or an hour or 2 before you leave instead of close to the middle. And they love to schedule you for 5 hours shifts so you wouldn't need a break
Hard to move up in the front, a bagger will stay a bagger for years before becoming a cashier, because they rather hire cashiers instead of promoting. A bagger can be crosstrained to cashier but he'll be doing a cashier's job while making baggers pay, the only way to move to cashier from bagger is to switch departments but you'll have to beg the manager 1000 times to do it

    Advice to Management

Stop switching managers from store to store, I've had managers switched 5 to 6 times in 2 years and each new manager wanted to change how the store worked. Also promote baggers who have been working there for a long time instead of hiring new cashiers, it doesn't make much since

I worked at Publix part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is helpful when you are adjusting. The workplace environment is fun but professional.

    Cons

Pay is not great when you start, but that is to be expected (at least given to entry role I acquired).

    Advice to Management

None, keep up what you are doing.

I have been working at Publix part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly coworkers, fairly lenient management

    Cons

Brutally long hours for retail, very late closing. Baggers have to basically do all the work when closing while the higher ups and cashiers either leave or just level shelves. Baggers do much more work than cashiers yet baggers get paid less than them. For the amount of sweat and energy drained, along with 9 1/2 hour shifts with only a 30 minute break, baggers should be paid a lot more than 8.50$/hour.

Don't put open availability because you'll work 6 days in a row without a day off, each day being 7-10 hours and usually ending after midnight. Then they continuously call on your days off to ask if you can come in again

I worked at Publix part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The labor is easy enough to account for the inevitably high turnover rate.

    Cons

The Board of Executives hates workers' rights, management is usually condescending, and the experience is depression-inducing.
