    Discounts through Publix Pharmacy

    Cons

Managers expect you to close the store one day and open it the next....every week.
    Bad schedules
Lazy co-workers that never pulled their weight

    Advice to Management

Make everyone accountable for their job. Nobody should have to take on other's slack

I worked at Publix part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, even for part-timers, Employee Stock Purchase Program, 401(k) matching program, fair wages, possibility of being promoted to management, good training, safe environment. Review and high possibility of a raise every six months

    Cons

People chosen for management positions do not always have good leadership skills which leads to a lot disagreements between associates and management. When faced with serious issues, management will do what they can to move the problem person to another store or will try to get them to quit by doing things like cutting hours.

    Advice to Management

Please give your new managers, or potential managers, mandatory leadership courses to help your managers, your associates, and your customers. If they don't do well in these courses, do not promote them.

I have been working at Publix part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Quality Customer Service, Fresh Product, friendly Associates

    Cons

I've been with Publix for 12 plus years. They treat their workers like crap. They only promote people who they like to Full Time. You have to be invested in the company 3 years before you're allowed to purchase stock. You get benefits, but only if you work 1500 hours for the year. Hours getting cut, and not alot of help being hired.

    Pros

You get a lot of hours during the holiday season, the pay is good, and they do have available benefits.

    Cons

There is always drama, hours for part time employees get cut significantly when it’s slow. I went from 45 hours one week to 24 the next after Christmas, you usually get out late when closing because customers are allowed to come up at 10 pm when the store closes to ask for chicken. It’s ovsral just stressful.

    Pros

compensation and benefits, promotes from within mostly, if they like you you're going to move up very quickly. 401k and stock options.

    Cons

poorly managed, you have to be in good graces with management to get promoted, if they don't like you they will crap on you every way and chance they get. if you are a male minority good luck with advancing unless you work in a minority heavy location.

I worked at Publix part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Made some great friends
Easy to get time off for part-timers

    Cons

Long hours, low pay, no accoutability, no backing from management

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Don't just hear them speak. Listen. There are many legitimate concerns and problems among employees and they want to feel like their voices are heard. Hold your managers and employees accountable.

Defend your employees. They are simply enforcing the policies you are telling them to. Don't automatically take the customers side, making both the employee and the store look bad. If the employee is wrong, they are wrong, but more often than not, the customer is just trying to scam the store into giving them a free something.

Stop with all the damn fundraising. Regular customers spend hundreds of dollars a week at your store. Stop asking them to spend more on a charity just so the company can take the take write-off every year.

Fight for your employees to get higher raises. Many of them are barely making ends meet working 2-3 jobs in addition to Publix. If you want an employee for life, pay them what they are worth.

    Pros

Great opportunity to work for them, but are taking away the GREAT Publix historical name for making individuals a millionaire.

Do your job well, and you'll see a raise in pay every 6 months.

    Be available.

    Cons

No compensation to new employees for the inventory bonus check that w.as taken away.

    Very hard to get Full-Time.

    Advice to Management

Please be mindful that people are human just like you.
