I worked at Puget Sound Energy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Sometimes they bring the employees lunch which was always nice.

    Cons

Almost too many to say. Horrible work environment, almost impossible to advance further in the company, management looks down on you as if you don't even work there. You are watched like a hawk, depending on your supervisor; if you are one minute late back from break you are written up. There is no consistency in the way all employees should be treated equally. They definitely choose favorites here and are going down...

I worked at Puget Sound Energy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Fairly stable employment. Most employees are supportive of one another assisting the customer.

    Cons

The service provider has been a poor business model in providing good customer service.

    Advice to Management

Hold the service provider accountable through a process that is transparent to all PSE employees.

I worked at Puget Sound Energy full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Benefits, work life balance and location. PSE is also a leader in green energy, especially wind power, and actively supports the community.

    Cons

Used to be a good company to work for, but has become very "corporate", cold and political under Kimberley's leadership. PSE is working hard to become more customer service focused, which is a good thing; trouble is everything else is falling to the wayside starting with the employees. Reorganizations are common and many dedicated and well-respected employees, managers and senior...

    Advice to Management

Don't forget about your employees. While it's nice to strive for JD Power recognition, don't do it at all costs and risk alienating your remaining employees,

I worked at Puget Sound Energy for more than 3 years

    Pros

The jobs at Puget Sound Energy pay a living wage. The hours are family friendly. The work is challenging and rewarding.

    Cons

The rules that govern attendance for all of the customer service division are draconian. You can not be abscent for an illness lilke a cold or the flu without facing disipline. A doctor must approve your abscence and a long drawn out process is required to even get an excused abscence, It is almost impossible for some of the employees in customer...

    Advice to Management

Give back the retirement plan that was available before the company was sold to the investment company and valuable employees will stay until retirement and feel valued in a way the are not now valued.

I worked at Puget Sound Energy

    Pros

The supervisors in the call center are knowledgeable, helpful, and caring. Puget Sound Energy offers a fair salary with good benefits.

    Cons

For the call center, there is absolutely no opportunity for promotion unless you want to stay there 5 to 10 years and work your way into call center management. Virtually all job openings posted at the Bothell location are already filled by a temporary employee who is about to be offered a permanent position. No matter how much experience a customer service representative has,...

    Advice to Management

Post jobs at the Bothell location before hiring a temporary employee as it seems dishonest to post the jobs after the position is already filled. Give customer service representatives a chance to advance outside the call center rather than looking outside the company; many employees have valuable experience before they started at PSE. Print out certificates of achievements every month for meeting certain performance...

I have been working at Puget Sound Energy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good benefits. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Going downhill. Many changes occurring in the company with little communication to employees prior to the changes happening. There's lots of talk about our renewed focus on customer service however the missing piece is building employee confidence and morale with all of the new initiatives. Basically a lot of talk about all of the opportunities but really there is no room...
