I worked at Pulaski Technical College full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The students have a genuine need for mentoring, guidance and learning to change the course of their lives. There are a few hardworking and intelligent employees sprinkled across the campuses.

    Cons

Administration has mismanaged the budget and hiring practices are warped or non-existent. The chancellor together with HR is OUT OF CONTROL to the point that people have lost count of how many faculty, staff and interns have been fired. Other untold numbers have resigned under threat of firing or pushed into early retirement. They have lied about and covered up the enrollment numbers so long and nobody knows why the parking lots are so empty these days?!

    Advice to Management

Get ready for a shake down or go ahead and resign yourselves because state and regional governing boards are sure to audit the place else they are criminally involved with what is happening under the table and behind closed doors.

I have been working at Pulaski Technical College (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I am online instructor, so I love the hours. This job allows me to work and enjoy my leisure time. Administration, faculty and staff are awesome. The president as well as the dean has an open door policy and they are their to assist at all times.

    Cons

There is not a down side to working there; however, because I am part-time I do not get a chance to meet a lot of the other adjuncts that are not in my department. Except for during scheduled meetings.

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I worked at Pulaski Technical College (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Do your job and they leave you alone.
Overall, very low pay for level of education.
Beginning to have higher expectations for staff.
    Very friendly cohort.

    Cons

    No clear vision.
Adjuncts are an after-thought and never included as "real employees".

    Advice to Management

Have more self-efficacy. Value others' time.
Hire more full-time staff instead of tons of adjuncts, working them to the max to save every penny, then toss them aside (not me) when poor planning gets in the way of full classes.

I worked at Pulaski Technical College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Free tuition waiver for you and family. Get state employee benefits (although medical benefits are not as good as they used to be).

    Cons

How much you make depends on which AVP or VP you work for. Can go a very long time without even a cost of living raise (even if the state legislature approves it). Not an impartial environment. Helps if you are "in" with the right people at the top. If you are not "in", you will be paid far less than what you are worth.
