I have been working at Pulaski Technical College (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I am online instructor, so I love the hours. This job allows me to work and enjoy my leisure time. Administration, faculty and staff are awesome. The president as well as the dean has an open door policy and they are their to assist at all times.

    Cons

There is not a down side to working there; however, because I am part-time I do not get a chance to meet a lot of the other adjuncts that are not in my department. Except for during scheduled meetings.

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I worked at Pulaski Technical College (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Do your job and they leave you alone.
Overall, very low pay for level of education.
Beginning to have higher expectations for staff.
    Very friendly cohort.

    Cons

    No clear vision.
Adjuncts are an after-thought and never included as "real employees".

    Advice to Management

Have more self-efficacy. Value others' time.
Hire more full-time staff instead of tons of adjuncts, working them to the max to save every penny, then toss them aside (not me) when poor planning gets in the way of full classes.

I worked at Pulaski Technical College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Free tuition waiver for you and family. Get state employee benefits (although medical benefits are not as good as they used to be).

    Cons

How much you make depends on which AVP or VP you work for. Can go a very long time without even a cost of living raise (even if the state legislature approves it). Not an impartial environment. Helps if you are "in" with the right people at the top. If you are not "in", you will be paid far less than what you are worth.

I worked at Pulaski Technical College part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

At one time, you could teach a course load of 18-21 hours as an adjunct instructor. The pay was excellent for the amount of time actually spent working.

    Cons

Incompetent leadership has led to many good employees (and especially teachers) leaving the college. I taught there for many years with a high student success rate; however, my last semester I had a new supervisor that wanted to micromanage everything I did. This led to teacher and student dissatisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Find some people who know what they are doing and quit listening to unqualified individuals simply because they are your buddy.

I worked at Pulaski Technical College (More than 8 years)

    Pros

In a market with a lot of students and had grown tremendously.

    Cons

Incompetent management has beat down teachers and lost over 3500 students of the almost 12,000 there two years ago.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let someone who knows what they are doing run the place.
