I worked at Pulte Homes full-time

    Pros

They really try to have employee engagement by having company events. Overall it is easy to get along with co-workers and ask for help. Great place to quickly learn a lot about the construction industry.

    Cons

Have too many systems that are outdated and not user friendly, this is probably the top reason for employee dissatisfaction. Hiring new trades is a long process, and difficult when construction is time sensitive. Career opportunities are unclear and it can take a long time to advance.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work on improving systems and consolidating all the data onto one system.

I have been working at Pulte Homes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Systems, processes, timely payments to trades, quality of behind the wall construction, top tier land positions, focus on being consumer inspired - floor plans, community lay out, options available.

    Cons

Rigid focus on overhead, not enough people to do the job and well. Seems like we run in a new direction monthly.

    Advice to Management

Near impossible to hit on every critical priority, they often contradict each other.

I worked at Pulte Homes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to make six figures. Good floor plans and community locations

    Cons

Micro managed by managers and long hours. Adding cameras to models for "security" but actually used to be a big brother mentality. Reduced commission percentage as much as possible. Focuses mainly on margin and not employees or work load.

    Advice to Management

Promote a better culture and stop micromanaging.

I worked at Pulte Homes full-time

    Pros

You will be trusted with real responsibility. The corporate structure is well defined and organized. Pay is competitive.

    Cons

Huge failure to train and guide new employees. Upper management is willing to stretch the workforce thin in order to enhance profitability. Support functions are disassociated from the stress and problems of the construction department.

    Advice to Management

Address the root cause of high turnover. Checklists, bonuses, and appearances are symptom relief at best, not a cure.
