I have been working at Pulte Mortgage full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pulte Mortgage puts tremendous effort into employee satisfaction. They not only offer competitive salaries with excellent benefits, but also offer a variety of non-compensation-related perks, like... Farmer's market on-site, food trucks, employee appreciation days, convenience snack bar, raffles for charity, carnivals, and much, much more. They make sure employees have a fun, safe, and healthy work environment in a modern and conveniently located facility.

    Cons

Commuters north of Denver may find the distance challenging.

    Advice to Management

Employee engagement is a primary focus for managers. You have to love working with and developing your employees if you want to be successful here.

I have been working at Pulte Mortgage full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good office location near DTC. Decent benefits (3 weeks of PTO; health insurance is average). Good place to learn the mortgage business and then move on in a year or so.

    Cons

Low pay compared to other lenders for the amount of work. Poor hiring model. They can't attract experienced employees. Culture is deteriorating year over year. Promotions only happen if you're buddies with management.

    Advice to Management

This place is a virtual sweatshop with a model that WANTS attrition so they can backfill with cheaper employees. As a loan consultant you are expected to manage a backlog of 80-110 loans. Forget about going on vacation - your loans fall apart when you're gone. Managers need to LISTEN to their employees, and not just the ones who agree with them. Pulte fires experienced employees who are good at what they do if they discuss all of the negative things that are on everyone's mind. Stop doing that! It is bringing down morale, even if many are too afraid to talk to you about it. Stop acting like you care about us while you make changes that hurt our compensation. Stop hiring inexperienced people just so you can pay them less on the base salary. You can't attract quality loan originators because the pay is too low! Earning $75,000 sounds great to a fresh college grad whose only experience is retail (that seems to be the preferred background for new loan consultants), but any experienced loan originator who's worth their salt knows $75,000 is NOTHING when closing 15-20 loans per month. Pay your loan processors more, too! They are treated like garbage and have comp plan metrics that are not achievable to make a decent living. Stop pretending like the LDA role is not about to be outsourced to India. Pulte Mortgage is not a referral business - borrowers only use Pulte because the seller gives them cash incentives to do so. They say so in all the surveys - pay attention! Start rewarding performance and not popularity. Start listening to your employees - not just the ones you like or the ones who say yes to everything - listen to the detractors. Te Gallup Survey is getting worse each year, with absurdly low scores on the most recent one. What are you going to do about it? There's a huge morale issue you need to address, because it's bubbling up right now while you're not paying attention. You're at serious risk of losing multiple loan consultants and several loan processors within months if you don't fix the problems that are ruining this office!

Values individuals. Emphasis on a more diverse and welcoming culture.

    Cons

Technology is behind and inefficient. IT is slow to respond to changing business needs.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating technology like a three headed monster. You are so far behind you don’t know what you don’t know.

I worked at Pulte Mortgage full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My co-workers were the best people I could ask for.

    Cons

Management doesn't care about their employees. Pipelines of over 100 loans and unrealistic expectations to meet bonus. Decisions upper management has been making is only for their benefit, not for the benefit of the company. It's too bad. I used to like to work there. Integrity of the company is not what it used to be.

    Advice to Management

Make your employees happy. Happy employees make for happy customers. Without your employees you wouldn't have a company. They are the backbone of Pulte, not your pocket book.

I have been working at Pulte Mortgage full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love my team and co-workers! You spend a majority of your day with your co-workers and to be able to truly enjoy yours makes all the difference. We are more than a team here, we are family. When the days feel long, you have everyone around you to make you laugh and help you out.

There is a burrito guy that comes in the morning...best part of my day! Love that this company allows him and other vendors to come. Every month the Activity Committee sets up food trucks for lunch (FREE!), outings, book fairs, etc.

    Cons

Like all jobs, the day can get long and it can get stressful. However, as mentioned, when you work with people you enjoy and care about, makes a huge difference.

    Advice to Management

Walk around every now and then and check in on your team, personally.

The team dynamics of Pulte Mortgage is one of the best perks of the job. Management is incredibly supportive and truly cares about you, as an individual. Work/Life balance is outstanding and you are encouraged to take the time you need to tend to your personal life. Been with the company for 2 years and couldn't be happier. Compensation is good with opportunity for great annual bonus. The vibe is positive. Management is sound and keeps you up to date with what is going on within the company and field. They take the time to groom you and are always looking for ways to get you to the next position. Definitely would recommend Pulte Mortgage to family, friends or anyone looking for employment in the field.

Work load is high and can be stressful if you aren't good at managing your time and priorities.
