I have been working at Punch Taverns full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get to meet some nice people / customers .
There are some good days however the immense costs, extortionate rent, business rates, utilities, excessive cost of beer charged by Punch make it an impossible task

    Cons

Do not be fooled by these people. Nice suits and big smiles mask an unethical business. They sell the agreement saying there is loads of support then fail to deliver. The accountants they recommend are clearly in their back pockets so advice is never genuine or to the benefit of the tenant. Don't waste your hard earned money, invest in something else. The only beneficiaries are Punch Taverns whilst the tenants work long hours, pick up the mess from previous tenants and end up with mounting debts. AVOID AVOID AVOID

    Advice to Management

Wake up and understand the issues facing tenants. Your sole priority seems to be safeguarding punch profits and your own bonuses, all at the expense of the tenants

I worked at Punch Taverns full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beer promotions were possibly the best beer promotions I have seen since being involved with beer promotions in the work place.

    Cons

Burton upon Trent was possibly the worst town to commute to and work in since I have been commuting to and working in towns and cities.

    Advice to Management

If you can keep your head when all about you. Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you then crack on.

I worked at Punch Taverns full-time

    Pros

Friendly staff who are more than friendly with fair wages. Good sense of community and direction for the business. Employer is always looking to expand.

    Cons

Not exactly a place to excell and refine your catering skills as the menu doesn't change that often and the specials are very limited.

I worked at Punch Taverns full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good support structure for new employees. Industry standard compensation package, car, bonus. Better reputation since change of name of Landlords/Publicans to "Partners", and culture changing slowly for the better.

    Cons

Some mid-manager.s at Ops Manager level severely impede your ability to perform your role by micro-managing every detail of their team's daily lives. This means that you feel constricted and unable to perform to the best of your ability. Individuals at senior management level have favourites and preconceived ideas that "external" employees who have not managed a pub themselves cannot progress.

    Advice to Management

Clear out some of the dead wood, and invest in some individuals with modern leadership practices and inspirational skillsets who can truly take this company where it deserves to go.
