I have been working at Purple Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Purple truly cares about the Deaf community & their employees. Interpreters are supported and highly valued. I plan to stay at Purple until retirement (and that's about 30 years away from now!) LOVE my company!!!

    Cons

The call center environment can be tough. But Purple understands that and supports us through it.

    Advice to Management

Keep the Purple culture rich and alive! Keep supporting, valuing, and treating interpreters well, and they/we will stay with Purple! Keep service and qualities cherished by the Deaf community as the focus of all you do. Keep the interpreters informed about decisions being made, and let us vote and provide input too. Overall, I appreciate Purple and will remain a loyal employee for years to come.

I worked at Purple Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice location, plenty of parking and good benefits including the massage chair and ping-pong table in the break room.

    Cons

This company is Video Relay Services, providing interpreting calls for Deaf people via videophone. Best thing ever happened to the Deaf community. BUT! The investors and executives were 99% Hearing and they misrepresented company's vision. They did not understand a thing about Deaf Culture nor Sign Language (ASL). You would think they all should know the ASL language since it was the primary element of Video Relay Services. Their Marketing and Sales approach did not align with Deaf Culture. Very oppressive environment - hearing vs. Deaf in the company. Nothing will work if you don't work with the community!

    Advice to Management

Don't seek greedy opportunities and exploit Deaf Culture.
