I worked at Putnam Community Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great nurses in the unit, making a great team.

    Cons

At the time management was not optimal, and I might add the Department manager had her "preferred" employees and retaliated against the ones who tried to either get away from the department or voiced their opinion.

    Advice to Management

Be thoughtful of the nurses working on the floor and carefully review the yearly employee surveys. They have a lot to say about management.

I worked at Putnam Community Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers were great and helped to make what was an unsafe situation a little better. It was very rewarding to work in a small community hospital. The patients are warm and appreciative. The benefit package was average and the pay was average. Pretty much what you would expect from most community hospitals.

    Cons

Upper Management did not seem to care for the safety of the patients nor the nurses. There was no sense of being valued by management. Too many times I heard that there were numerous applications on my managers desk and we could all be replaced tomorrow.

    Advice to Management

Quality patient care should outweigh monetary gains. Need better nurse retention programs. Management is the number one issue I left. I felt I was working in an unsafe environment and that I held no value in the organization and could be replaced immediately.

I worked at Putnam Community Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The nurses who work at PCMC are dedicated and compassionate

    Cons

Nurse managers and administration do not back up nurses or ensure a safe nursing/patient ratio.

    Advice to Management

In order to keep experienced and valuable nurses to the facility provide support and appropriate staffing.

I worked at Putnam Community Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I loved the job I had, Purchasing Agent. But it was outsourced to another company.

    Cons

Not a lot of upper management interaction except for negative feedback. They should not talk down to employees. No raises in the last 4 years, even though we all went above and beyond what our job entailed.

    Advice to Management

When bonus's are promised employee's should not have to "remind" management of this fact.

    Pros

The people that you work with are typically very genuine however the community that we serve does not have the highest standards for itself.

    Cons

The community does not have a very high standard for itself and like most workplaces there can be a lot of gossip. This can make for a very difficult day at the job but also can make a dull job more interesting.

    Advice to Management

Some policies while seemingly well thought out work only in theory and not in practice. Changes can be good but there could be more follow through with policy changes.
