I have been working at PwC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent access to senior leadership, both within PwC and on client engagements; well-defined advancement paths

    Cons

Consistent travel can affect family planning (although maternity / paternity leave can be used for birth or adoption)

I worked at PwC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Public accounting is a great way to accelerate your career progression and obtain your CPA. Every team is competitive and has technically strong members. Great learning opportunities for those young in their career

    Cons

Don't work here if you don't know what your signing up for. The hours here can be long, especially on the larger engagements where busy season is longer than January - March. In the past two years the firm's top leadership has become separated from the associates and senior associates. I question whether the partners and senior leadership team have our best interest in mind on all decisions.

I worked at PwC as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees were very helpful at teaching the interns. Offered a lot of support.

    Cons

Full time pay is low for hours worked.

    Pros

Great benefits, great pay, nice new offices, amazing views,

    Cons

Long hours expected because let's face it, we are natural over achievers.

    Advice to Management

Partners should never put down management in front of their staff. The example you set shows us what you will one day say about us when we are in those leadership roles.

    Pros

Looks good to have PwC on your resume
Long vacation - 1st Year is 15 days and 2nd year is 22 days and firm wide vacation
    Matching contribution is 6%
    Good health benefit plans

    Cons

Long hours during busy season and you potentially would be very busy all year long depending on the assigned engagements.

    Advice to Management

If the senior member of the team has a hard time keeping their associates with a turnover rate of 40-50%, consider how the senior rate their associates. Expecting to work long hours and strongly implying to not book the hours, so the senior looks good, yet not evaluating their associate appropriately for their efforts and time.

I worked at PwC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Good name to have on a resume for your career
    - Working with people who have good academic backgrounds in accounting

    Cons

    - A sweatshop. I was often told to sit and work at my desk until midnight, even if I did not have any work to do, just so that others wouldn't be demotivated
    - My first day on the job out of college I was asked to do a tax return for a Venezuelan company. No training. Nothing. And when it was wrong, I was yelled at
    - Very hostile work environment with unrealistic deadlines and low pay
    - Hardly any training at all. Management is not willing to train staff
    - Poor IT infrastructure
    - Require 5 years for the 401(k) match to take effect
    - I was let go without any notice or write ups. I was completely caught off guard as I was put in a conference room and they packed up my things and showed me to the elevator

    Advice to Management

Learn to treat your employees as actual people and not slaves who are forced to work at all hours of the day and night

    Pros

Great benefits. PwC really helps grow your career where you want to grow it.
    Best training in big 4
    Prestigious
    Pay is ok
    Flexibility is great.

    Cons

Long hours during tax season. But that's all public accounting
High staff turnover makes it hard for the people on the team who stay.

    Advice to Management

Everything is great. I love PwC and the culture itself. Great benefits for everyone

I have been working at PwC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits!! Awesome maternity leave. Christmas shut down. It is a very supportive environment. Great team environment. I have no plans to leave.

    Cons

The client service staff treat the administrative staff like the gum in the bottom of their shoes. Unrealistic timelines for big project. Continue to lower head count but expect the Sam amount to be done.

I have been working at PwC (More than a year)

    Pros

Very focused on developing long term client and employee relationships.

    Cons

Ability to succeed is dependent on building internal relationships within an established and fairly risk-averse network of partners and directors.

I have been working at PwC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Young, motivated coworkers. Fair amount of flexibility. Exposure to management roles at an early part of your career.

    Cons

Compensation is not adequate for amount of hours employees work. Depending on clients, travel could be very high. Compensation is hardly adjusted for cost of living.

    Advice to Management

Either increase compensation or reduce workload. There's a reason accounting firms are having great difficulty recruiting and retaining talent. Private companies are offering higher salaries along with a lesser workload.
