Pros
There is a high level of transparency and knowledge sharing across the firm. You work with nice, genuine and smart people plus firm hosts monthly team outings. Leadership values and cares about the employees.

Pros
Upper management have great values. Encourage learning and changing departments.
Cons

- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
The culture of the organization is second to none. You truly feel like a valued team member and part of the Pzena family instead of just a replaceable number. They want you to succeed at the firm and try to almost exclusively promote from within and look to only do outside hiring for lower-tiered positions, which bodes extremely well for employees looking for internal growth and mobility.
Cons
Nothing I can think of.

Family culture and flat hierarchy. The company invests in developing employees and building strong relationships, and encourages friendly debate and the sharing of different perspectives, all of which contribute to a positive work environment and better investment outcomes.
Cons
Expectations are high, and the work is sometimes very fast-paced!
- Former Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★

Smaller company so still limited internal growth opportunities but not relative to its size.

Pros
Since it's a small-ish company, you can get involved in many areas of the business and really see the fruits of your labor on a daily basis. There are a lot of very smart people working here and the opportunities abound. In my tenure, I have seen a lot of internal movement and career growth throughout the firm. Being on the buy-side is great, and I'm never going back to a big bank. Finally, equity partnership is open to all members of the firm and is a great incentive to work hard and build a career here.
Cons
Since it is a deep value shop, they don't pay top dollar. It's a reasonable trade off for the experience and culture though and compensation is competitive. Work/life balance could be better but it's pretty reasonable for a financial services firm.
Continue readingThanks for letting us know how we are doing and for your suggestion. We agree, and we added a 5th week of vacation for those with more than 10 years tenure, which is about 30% of our firm! We have great people, a track record of growth and internal mobility and a unique employee value proposition that includes our culture, our people, and so much more.
