I worked at Q'Max Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Made a few good friends over the years.

    Cons

Egotistical management, no leadership, very poor employee morale, absolutely nothing done to inspire a team effort.

    Advice to Management

It would have been nice to have our Calgary manager do something to help inspire employees, with the downturn a bit of moral support would have been nice.

    Pros

Good benefits plan, office is in nice a location.

    Cons

Management never seems to quite get it together. They hold all their information close to the vest and make poor decisions because they never consult with the people actually doing the work. They identify themselves with a big company mission statement but in reality are just small fish in a big pond. They preach integrity but have none.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting your egos ruin the company, be open and actually listen to people who know what they are talking about.

I have been working at Q'Max Solutions full-time

    Pros

    Flex Days
They are really good about letting you have days off when you need them.
    Great benefits.

    Cons

ZERO communication. There is no trickle down for information from management, meaning the management has all of the information while no one else knows what is going on.

    Advice to Management

Learn to communicate. And also, don't forget about the little people in the company who are the ones to have to deal with a lot of the things that you couldn't even fathom doing.

    Pros

Still has "small company" culture, with the owners easily accessible, and managers who are open to listening to employees concerns.

    Cons

Owners don't always seem to agree on direction or how to get there.

    Advice to Management

Communication could be better, especially where the company is headed.

    Pros

Private company where individual initiatives are encouraged. Relatively flat management structure allows a great deal of freedom with the ability to "self describe" positions within the company. Very positive culture where the expectations are for everyone to be treated very fairly.

    Cons

With 4 active owners, there are times when leadership messages are somewhat confusing.

    Advice to Management

Focus on what the company does best - drilling fluids.
