    I worked at QBE full-time

    Pros

Paid a decent wage/Good benefit package and flexible work hours

    Cons

Much of the work was outsourced to another country as a cost savings but at the expense of losing business. Didn't make a lot of sense to much time was spent training the workers and then they would leave and new employees had to be trained instead of keeping and valuing longtime employees

    Advice to Management

    learn to value your employees

I have been working at QBE full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

For the most part good people, trying to improve after laying off 1/2 the company, not trusted.

    Cons

They don't give current employees opportunities for advancement. Hire from the outside.
Little or no growth potential. New leadership from outside not properly monitored. Company spread out across the country. No accountability for poor leadership.

    Advice to Management

Good employee pool, look inside the company first.

    Pros

Great job and team until Sedgwick bought our account and we moved locations. We got the worst supervisor in America.

    Cons

Company is good for laying off and not keeping a contract. There is a lot of back in forth with this company.

Current Employee - Senior Claim Representative

    Pros

Very flexible, work from home environment. They do not micromanage your work hours and hold employees to high expectations.

    Cons

This place changes CEO's/VP's every year or two. By the time you get used to the requirements of one, there is a new one with new expectations and rules. You feel you can never keep up with all the changes. Limited room for growth.

    Pros

They paid well for contract workers when they hired me.

    Cons

Almost immediately after I was hired I noticed they are constantly laying people off and sending their jobs to India and other countries. Everyone is overworked because the are understaffed or have off shore workers who are not qualified on your teams so you carry all the weight.

    Advice to Management

Give employees absence that when they work hard it is appreciated by the company. When you tell people you are hiring them contract for hire and they perform, don't just string them along for years. Upper management needs to understand what their direct reports actually do. Constantly coming up with more processes and reports makes it hard for people to get their job done.
