I have been working at QLogic full-time

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Since it's not a consumer product company, product cycles tend to be longer. So usually there is no pressure.
Most co-workers are team players and willing to share their knowledge.

    Cons

Salary and benefits are slightly below industry average.
Upper management does not instill confidence and are unwilling to take any risk.
Middle management does not encourage innovation and out of the box thinking. This is what we have been doing for x years and does not want to change attitude.
Very conservative company struggling for direction in the modern cloud era.

    Advice to Management

Take risk and try something new instead of clinging to a dying technology. Instill new blood in management chain instead of stubborn old timers waiting for retirement. Show employee appreciation as they are the workhorses.

    Pros

Great people and very friendly atmosphere. employee to employee relationship make life simple and work enjoyable. competitive compensation.

    Cons

Lost direction in last couple of years. Company walking blindfolded. Not investing in new technology may put the company out in market for sale or will continue laying off to keep the Operational expenses in control. Management is losing direction and cannot build confidence in employee. Employees have no trust left with the higher management. Blame employes for all the failures that happened in past but continue to pay dividends to top heads. For employees Bonuses are not guaranteed but layoffs are. Have great talent base (losing as part of layoffs and resignations due to uncertainty)

    Advice to Management

Need a leadership to turn the company back to the golder era. Stop making frequent changes in management. Learn from the past mistakes and invest into future technology. Start addressing the concerns of the employees.
